Margaret Farren and Anna Carr proved best of the 82 pairs that contested the first National Championship of the season, the CBAI president Catherine Byrne's prize (Duais an Uachtarain) in Portmarnock at the weekend. It was the Donegal pair's third win in a national competition; they won the women's pairs (Jackson Cup) in 2022 and 2023 - the first of these was contested online during the Covid pandemic. Farren and Carr are having a good year; in April they were selected to play in the women's home international championship (Lady Milne trophy), the first Donegal players, male or female, to achieve such distinction.
