Children in Need SIMs in November

On Monday 9th November and Thursday 12th November MHBC will be taking part in the Children in Need SIMs. On each evening, as well as competing against your fellow players in the room, you are also competing against hundreds of others playing the exact same hands. After the event (usually a day or two later) you can see not only your results for the club room, but also the combined results across the whole country. There are 73 clubs signed up to play on Monday and 49 on Thursday.

The deal files for Monday and Thursday are different, so you can play on both nights - but you cannot play twice on any one day (e.g. at another club and then at MHBC in the evening)

In addition, a booklet is produced (it will be posted on our web site) with a "commentary" - an explanation of the best ways to play and defend each hand, so you can see where you were right - or wrong as the case may be!

We will be donating table money to the charity (less their admin fee), along with any extra you are prepared to donate on the night, Please come along with cash and help us raise money for this worthy cause.

Warning about PDF Readers

Many clubs (including MHBC) often include neatly formatted "PDF" files as attachments or links when sending information to members. There are also many documents on our site that are already in this "PDF" format, which is very common across the world.

Bridge clubs have been advised to let members know of a potential threat regarding "PDF Readers"

BEWARE - IF OPENING AN ATTACHMENT ASKS YOU TO DOWNLOAD A " DF READER" - STOP!! DO NOT DO IT!! Many of these are fake and dangerous!

Instead, exit the request and install a known or recommended PDF reader directly instead; then return and try again. The attachment or link should now open automatically using your chosen app.

We recommend programs such as Adobe PDF reader or Foxit PDF reader or  PDF Format There are others available, of course. They are all free to use,
