The Membership Fee of £15 for this year starting 1/4/2025 was decided at the AGM on 28th April.  Members can now pay their subs preferably by transfer into the clubs bank account (the club does not accept cheques).  The club will pay the SBU membership fees.  Table money of £2.00 per player will be charged for all face to face tournaments and all BBO online tournaments will be $2.00 per player.

Welcome to Largs Bridge Club

Largs is a vibrant picturesque seaside town in North Ayrshire on the west coast of Scotland.  Largs Bridge Club is a long established friendly low cost club catering for all skill levels.  Post pandemic the club provide a mix of both face to face and online (BBO) tournaments for both members and visitors, who are always welcome.  The club use electronic scoring so no more messing with bits of paper.   If you are interested in playing please contact us.  Largs Bridge Club is affiliated to the Scottish Bridge Union (SBU).

24th May 2025 - Please note that a new document has been added to the web site entitled Minutes of AGM 2025 this can be viewed by clicking Document Link or going to the document library.

 

 


 13th May 2025 - Summer Monday bridge has now commenced in the Clark Memorial Church annex starting at 1.30pm.  If you are free please come along for a fun afternoon which includes refreshments.  Where else can you get a game of bridge, a tea or a coffee and a biscuit for £2.00?

 


2nd May 2025 - the Largs Bridge Club AGM took place on 28th April 2025.  This was well attended by around 40 club members who, following the award of trophies and prizes, enjoyed an afternoon tea provided by the club.  The club was pleased to welcome Jim Morton and his daughter for the award of the Sadie Morton Memorial trophy to Fiona Brown and Morag Douglas.  Jim had kindly donated the trophy to the club.  LBC continued its support for both local and national charities by an award of £200 each to The Ayrshire Hospice, Haylie House, Largs Foodbank, Hessilhead and RNLI.


1st April 2025 – End of Season Trophy Results:

 Easter Pairs Trophy – This annual trophy was played on 31st March.  Congratulations to Ruth and Jimmy Fisher who were the winners in an evening of 19 pairs.  Also ‘well done’ to the runners-up Thelma Ling and Betty Smith.   Having just celebrated her 97th birthday, Betty looks forward to an improved result next year.  

Brisbane Trophy and Hunterston Trophy -  These annual aggregate trophies are played for over the Season on Fridays and Mondays respectively. Very many congratulations to the winners:   Brisbane Trophy: Winner – Nancy Wilson retains the trophy which she won last year.   Ruth and Jimmy Fisher were joint runners-up.  Hunterston Trophy: Winner – Jean FeatherstoneNancy Wilson was a very close runner-up, and Paddy Walsh was in third place.

Many congratulations to Fiona Brown and Morag Douglas on winning the inaugural Sadie Morton Memorial Cup on 24th February 2025.    Lotta Brown and Debbie Hodge were runners-up, and Emma Jackson and Jim Meldrum were in third place. 

All Club trophies will be presented at our AGM Prizegiving on 28th April.


25th Mar 2025 - Our last winter bridge tourney at Largs Bowling Club will be on Monday 21st April.  Summer afternoon bridge will start at the Clark Memorial Church hall  annex on Monday 12th May at 1.30pm.  Wednesday afternoon and Friday morning bridge continue as normal all year round.

 

 


25th Feb 2025 - Thanks to Ian Jones we now have a video with sound showing how to analyse hands on this web site  https://youtu.be/1eB1kGgniCM (please note this is a YouTube video).  It is also available here where you can view it as a full page LBC Hand Analysis  Ian has noted that you will need a reasonable sized screen for viewing (smartphone too small).  He has also noted that the analysis is 'Double Dummy', where a member sees and plays all 4 hands, when trying to make a contract.
