PROGRAMME DETAILS
The traditional route by which players develop within our game is usually by teaching using EBU/EBED’s Bridge for All (BfA) Red & Green books, which take people from knowing little or nothing of the game to a level where they can play the game, all be it at a basic level. This is normally where structured learning ends and players are left to make their own way by playing in club sessions and picking up what they can from the other players - often developing both good and bad habits. LCBA has been considering the question of how best to support these players develop and strengthen their game and believe a focussed development programme is the most effective solution. The main elements of the programme are:
Online seminars in partnership with the Friendly Online Bridge Club (20 places at £5 rather than £15)
Adam Hickman, one of England’s leading players is delivering a programme of seminars through the Friendly Online Bridge Club. The advertised price for these seminars is £15 but to help players in the county develop their game, LCBA is subsidising up to 20 places at £5 on each seminar. On each seminar it will be first come, first served for the 20 subsidised places.
The next seminar is on Sunday 23 March at either 11am or 2pm and when you register for the overall Development Programme above you will receive a link to enable you to book a place.
LCBA Relaxed Pairs F2F sessions (FREE)
The purpose of these events is to introduce players to county-wide friendly competition, They are 24 Board MP sessions with no players above NGS 10. There is free Tea/Coffee & biscuits/cake during the short mid-session break and prizes for the overall winners. We currently have an event scheduled for Sunday 12 October at St Anne’s bridge club starting at 1pm. Every affiliated club in Lancashire will be offered 2 free places, so if you wish to be considered, contact your club secretary. Any unused free places will be put on general release through the LCBA website in September.
Lancashire Festival of Bridge
The weekend of 8/9 November this year, we are holding a Festival of Bridge at Barton Manor Hotel which will include subsidised events for delegates registered for the Beyond the Green Book programme who will receive all the details when they are published.
