At the recent LCBA Council Meeting, it was agreed to keep the Pay To Play County session charge at 2p which is still one of the lowest in the Country. The club levy used for many years as a player charge has been abolished, the fee for direct members affiliating to LCBA remains at £4. The affiliation fee (for those whose primary affiliation is to another county) will be £2 - currently applies to LCBA Mixed Pairs or Hector Barker Pairs).

The new Selection committee is Jeff Smith, John Brearley, Barry Brelsford & Mike Tomlinson and we are looking for new pairs to make themeselves known to the Selection committee if they wish to be considered for County matches. The Haley Trophy, awarded to the pair with the best results in the A Team NBL matches, was won by Paul Hepworth and Rick Bentley.

The AGM of the Lancashire CBA took place on the 21st May 2018 at Preston BC. Mike Tomlinson has taken over from Jacqueline Wright as Tournament Secretary and it was noted the excellent work that Jacqueline had done for a very long time. The new General Data Protection Act comes into force today (25th May 2018) and LCBA has published its GDPR Privacy notice on the Minutes page. LCBA have arranged a new non-expert competition – 'The County Club Challenge'. The clubs have been sent details, some have responded enthusiastically whilst others have ignored it. Please ensure your club is participating. There is also an initiative from some Preston members who have organised a Cafe bridge day for July, full details are on both the LCBA and Preston websites
