The Lancashire Contract Bridge Association is currently run with the intention of promoting bridge in Lancashire and in organising county and other competitions for its members.

At present there are eight members on the Executive including a Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice Chairperson, Tournament Secretary, Membership secretary and Education secretary and an IT member/chairperson of selectors. During recent times the committee has been reduced because of deaths and resignations due to other commitments.

The Executive is wanting to appoint four other people who are willing to assist the present members in the successful organisation of the Association. Unless an emergency EGM is required it is not expected that there will be more than four meetings per annum. Recent meetings have been dealt with by zoom.

The Chester Congress returned to face to face over the weekend of 28-29th January 2023. Congrats to the Multiple Teams winners Jeff Smith & Rhona Goldenfield, Jackie Pye & John Holland.  Results are on the Deva Club website.

Well done to Sue Woodcock, Stuart Clarke, Nick Woodcock & Sue Fjortoft who won the Cumbria Swiss Teams on Sunday 19 March. Also hard luck to Bill & Liz Wattleworth, Peter Richmond & Roger Allison who were 2nd. Nick & Stuart also won the Mens Pairs.

Well done to Nick & Sue Woodcock, Stuart Clarke & Michael Fay who won the North Wales Swiss Teams at Northop on Sunday 26 March. In 3rd place were Mike Tomlinson & Linda Smith, Bob Loveridge & Nick Sutcliffe. In the Swiss Pairs, Michael Fay & Bill Carr finished 4th.

In the EBU's Northern Summer Congress on 14th July 2023, Jackie Pye playing with John Holland,  Andrew Woodcock and Catherine Draper won the MultipleTeams competition. Second was Jeff & Ann Wilkins, Mike Tomlinson & Linda Smith. In the pairs, best Lancashire were Nick Woodcock & Sue Fjortoft 7th, Jeff & AnnWilkins 13th and Sue Woodcock & Stuart Clarke  14th

Brierfield BC hosted this competition for all players with NGS Jack or below on Sunday 6th August 2023 at 11am. There were 23 pairs taking part. Lancashire Blue 4 Swiss Pairs

Oliver Cowan is running an online Blue Point Swiss Pairs on behalf of LCBA and Preston BC on BBO, Saturday 4^th November, starting at 1pm, consisting of 6 x 6 board rounds. There will be a 40 minute break after round 3 and EBU blue points will be awarded for each round won.
