The 2021 Haley Cup goes to Sue Woodcock and Stuart Clarke. This Cup was donated in 2013 by Steve Haley's widow Shirley. It was originally awarded each year for the best performing pairs in the NBL A Division based on the CrossImps from at least two appearances but this criteria was amended in the October 2019 Executive meeting to include the two days of the Presidents Cup. They averaged 0.44 XImps and 1.58 XImps in the Presidents Cup just ahead of Bill Alston and Colin Mitchell who averaged 0.89 and 0.36 XImps in NBL Matches 1 and 2 !

In the final round on Saturday 9th October 2021 the A team were 2nd of 6 teams. The team was M Tomlinson & L Smith, J Brearley & A Lum,  P Hepworth & R Bentley, D Hilton & D Fazackerley. J Brearley & A Lum were best on cross imps.

In the B division Lancashire finished 6th of 7 teams. The team was M Nicholson & M Farr, M Faye & S Clarke, S Challinor & A Kirby, J & A Wilkins,.M Farr & M Nicholson were best on cross imps.

In the C division the Lancashire team was 1st of 6 teams.  The team was B & H Winter, S Gregson & G Beattie, V Petrie & I Edwards, Judy Brearley & H Dent. V Petrie & I Edwards were top in the crossimps, with S Gregson & G Beattie in 3rd place.

In the third round on Saturday 18th September 2021 the A team were 3rd of 6 teams. The team was J Smith & J Pye, S Woodcock & M Fay, J & A Wilkins, D Hilton & D Fazackerley. J & A Wilkins were best on cross imps with J Smith & J Pye slightly behind. With one more match to play, Lancashire are leading the division 13 VPs ahead of Yorkshire 2!

In the B division Lancashire finished 4th= of 7 teams. The team was A Kirby & S Challinor, M Tomlinson & J Dearing, J & J Brearley,D Costich & A Lum.  A Kirby & S Challinor were best on cross imps.

In the C division the Lancashire team was 3th of 6 teams.  The team was B Brelsford & S Ellis, L Hoy & B Apfel, B & H Winter,  S Gregson & G Beattie. B & H Winter were our best pair on cross imps with S Gregson & G Beattie close behind.

In the C division the Lancashire team was 6th of 6 teams.  The team was S Bentley & M Blake, D Bowyer & D Briggs, M & M Fyne, B Apfel & G Beattie. S Bentley & M Blake were our best pair on cross imps with D Bowyer & D Briggs close behind.

The final match of this season's Northern Bridge League took place on Saturday 12th October 2019.
In the A division at Bolton, the team of Jeff Smith/Jackie Pye, Bill Alston/Colin Mitchell, Paul Hepworth/Rick Bentley, Sue Woodcock/Stuart Clarke finished 3rd of 7 teams. Jeff/Jackie were 6th on CrossImps.
In the B division at Bradford, the team of John Dearing/Jeremy Stanforth,Angus Kirby/Stuart Challinor, David Costich/Andrew Lum,Bob Loveridge finished 2th of 8 teams. Best CrossImps were Bob/Nick (4th).
In the C division at Preston, the team of David Pendlebury/Alan Purdy,Barry Brelsford,Steve Ellis, Robin Atkinson/Pauline Holden, John Warner/Jose Mercer finished 4th of 9 teams. Barry/Steve were 2nd on Crossimps.

The Haley Cup award for 2019 has been won by John Morrell and Marianne Farr. This is based on the best two Ximps scores over all 4 NBL A team matches.

The final round of NBL matches for the 2018 season was played on the 6th October at Bolton (A), Bradford (B), Leeds (C). The A team finished last, the B team finished 2nd and the C team won on the day. The Final positions leave the A team 5th (of 6), the B team 3rd (of 8) and the C team (3rd) of 8. The third round of NBL matches for the 2018 season were played on the 22nd September at Bradford (A,B), Keighley (C). The A team finished 2nd (of 6) on 54 VPs. The B team finished 3rd (of 8) on 84 VPs and the C team finished 6th (of 8) on 64 VPs thus moving to third position overall. Full details as usual available on the NBL site

The second round of NBL matches for the 2018 season were played on the 11th August 2018 at Bradford (A,C),Leeds (B). The A team finished 6th (of 6) on 25 VPs. The first round of NBL matches for the 2018 season were played on the 14th July 2018 at Sheffield (A), Bradford (B) and Keighley (C). The A team finished 3rd (of 6) on 63 VPs behind Manchester (68) and Yorkshire (64), The B team finished 5th (of 8) on 71 VPs and the C team finished 2nd (of 8) on 92 VPs just behind Manchester C1 on 94 VPs.Full details as usual available on the NBL site

This Cup was donated in 2013 by Steve Haley's widow Shirley and will be awarded each year for the best performing pairs in the NBL A Division based on the CrossImps from at least two appearances. Degsy and Cros finished 4th in Match 1 and 1st in Match 3.The previous winners were Degsy Wiliams & Cros Croswell (2013), Austin Barnes & Stuart Norris (2014) and Bill Alston & Colin Mitchell (2015), Jeff Smith & Jackie Pye (2016).

The final round of NBL matches were played yesterday on 7 October 2017.

A Team finished 4th with the best pairs Barnes/Norris 6th, Shine/Brearley 9th, Smith /Pye 12th in the Ximps.
B Team finished 3rd with the best pairs Wilkins 5th, Wilkinson/Challinor 9th in the Ximps
C Team finished 4th with the best pairs Hoy/Apfel 5th, Calloway/Clarkson 10th in the XImps

In the NBL Final Table, Lancs A finished 2nd, Lancs B finished 2nd. Lancs C finsihed 5th

In the C division, Lancashire finished fifth and now lie fourth overall. Barry Brelsford/Jacqueline Wrght were the highest pair on 7th in the CrossImps Table.

All the Lancashire teams performed well in the NBL Match 2 on 19 August 2017 to leave them well placed at the halfway stage of the NBL Season. The A Team finished 3rd to leave them 4rd in the overall Table but only 9 VPs behind the top teams. The B Team were 2nd and currently lie 2nd in thee overall Table only 1 VP behind the leaders. The C Team also were 2nd and currently lie 2nd in the overall C Division. The best CrossImps were A Team Bill Alston/Colin Mitchell 4th, Jeff Smith/Marrianne Farr 6th, B Team Andrew Lum/David Costich 4th, Brian Riply/Barrie Newall 7th, C Team Jeremy Stanforth/John Dearing 6th, Alan Crabtree/David Spencer 7th. The Lancashire A Team finished 3rd, B Team finished 4th, C Team finished 2nd in the first set of NBL matches this season on 8 July 2017. The B division was played at Bradford where our team of Alan Whittam/Paul Evans,Brian Ripley/Barrie Newall, Mike Tomlinson/Nick Sutcliffe,Mike Nicholson/Des King were 6th on the day and finished 3rd in the Final Table.  Mike & Nick were the best pair finishing 13th on the cross IMPs.
The C division was played at Manchester where our team of Angus Kirby/Brian Dormand,Barry Brelsford/Jacqueline Wright, John Ashworth,Cath Ashworth,Brian Apfel/Les Hoy finiished 1st on the day but 2nd overall a few VPs behind Yorkshire SE.  Brian & Les finished 3rd on cross IMPs.

In the A division at Bradford, Lancashire were second on the day and lie 3rd overall just 4 VPs behind Yorkshire and 8 Vps behind Manchester.  The team was John Brearley/Ross Shine, Colin Mitchell/Bill Alston, Paul Hepworth/Ross Shine, Cros Croswell/Degsy Williams.  Cros & Degsy were 2nd and John & Ross 3rd on the cross IMPs.
The B division was played at Keighley where our team of David Costich/Andrew Lum,Stuart Clarke/Bill Carr, Des King/Mike Nicholson,Brian Ripley/Barrie Newall were 3rd on the day and lie 3rd overall, 1 VP behind Manchester and 5 VPs behind Cumbria.  Des & Mike were 5th and David & Andrew 7th on the on the cross IMPs.
The C division was played at Brierfield where our team of  Judy Brearley/David Pendlebury, Bill & Liz Wattleworth, Alan Crabtree/David Spencer, Robin Atkinson/Pauline Holden finished 3rd and lie 2nd overall a few VPs behind Yorkshire NW.  Alan & David, closely followed by Bill & Liz were our best pairs on cross IMPs.

In the B division at Manchester, Lancashire B (Brian Ripley (capt)/Ken Renno, Paul Evans/Alan Whittam, Mike Tomlinson/Nick Sutcliffe, Jeff & Ann Wilkins) finished 6th of 8 teams.

 In the C division, also at Manchester, Lancashire C (Barry Brelsford/Jacqueline Wright, Bill & Liz Wattleworth, Les Hoy/Brian Apfel, Pauline Holden/Dave Pendlebury) finished 3rd of 7 teams.

In the B division at Manchester, Lancashire B (Stuart Clarke/Bill Carr,Stuart Challinor/Tony Wilkinson,Jeff & Ann Wilkins,Nick Sutcliffe/Mike Tomlinson) finished 4th of 8 teams..Stuart & Tony and Jeff & Ann were the best pairs on the cross IMPs.

In the C division, also at Manchester, Lancashire C (Angus Kirby/Brian Dormand,John & Cath Ashworth, Duncan &,Diane Ault,Bill &,Hazel Winter) finished 3rd of 7 teams. Angus & Brian were the best pair finishing top of the cross Imps!.

Lancashire finished runners up to Warwickshire in the National Inter County League B Final 10 July 2016 held at Coventry Bridge Club on Jul 10.  The Lancs team was represented by J Brearley/D Hilton, P Evans/A Whittam, M Farr/J Morrell and B Carr/S Clarke. Full Results at: NICL Results

The 2015 Haley Cup goes to Bill Alston and Colin Mitchell. This Cup was donated by Steve Haleys widow Shirley and will be awarded each year for the best performing pairs in the NBL A Division based on the CrossImps from at least two appearances. In the A division Lancashire finished 3rd = on the day and 3rd overall in the final Table. The team was A Barnes/R Greenhalgh, P & H Williams, S Norris/D King, J Smith/J Pye.

In the B division, Lancashire won on the day and were 1st overall for the third consecutive year! The team was J Morrell/M Farr, N Sutcliffe/D Costich, B & J Newall, D Hilton/D Fazackerley. Don and Dagmar topped the overall CrossImps on the day.

In the C division, Lancashire were 2nd on the day and 2nd overall.  The team was Les Hoy, Brian Apfel, Duncan/Diane Ault, Linda Wilson/Brian Perry, Angus Kirby/Brian Dormand. Angus and Brian topped the overall CrossImps on the day.

In the A division at Bradford Lancashire (Degsy Williams,Croz Croswell,Bill Alston,Colin Mitchell,John Brearley,Ross Shine,Paul Hepworth,Richard Bentley) finished 3rd.  In the cross IMP scoring, Paul & Richard were best finishing 3rd.

In the B division at Keighley Lancashire (Stuart Clarke,Bill Carr,Mike Tomlinson,Ewart Evans,Paul Evans,Alan Whittam,Brian Ripley,Barrie Newall) finished 4th but still lead overall. Mike and Ewart were our best pairs (4th) on the cross IMPs.

In the C division at Brierfield Lancashire (Malcolm Fyne,Madeleine Fyne,Liz Wattleworth,Bill Wattleworth,Judy Brearley,David Pendlebury,Robin Atkinson,Pauline Holden) were fifth and now lie fourth overall.  Bill and Liz were our best pair on the cross IMPs.

County teams were in action at Bradford (A and C divisions) and at Blackburn (B division) on Saturday 29th August 2015.

In the A division Lancashire (John Brearley & Ross Shine, Rick Bentley & Paul Hepworth, Des King & Mike Nicholson, Colin Mitchell & Bill Alston) finished 3rd behind Yorkshire 1 and Manchester and lie 3rd overall.  Colin & Bill topped the whole field on cross Imps with John & Ross high in 6th place.

In the B division Lancashire (Marianne Farr & John Morrell, Paul Evans & Alan Whittam, Barrie Newall & Brian Ripley, Andrew Lum & Nick Sutcliffe) finished 1st and retained their 1st place overall with a sizeable lead.  Andrew & Nick topped the whole field on crossImps with Marianne & John high  in 6th place.

In the C division the Lancashire team of Bill Wattleworth,Liz Wattleworth,Barry Brelsford,Jacqueline Wright Judy Brearley,David Pendlebury,Alan Crabtree,David Spencer finished 5th= and now lie in 2nd place overall.

The first round of the Northern League took place on 1st August2015  with a generally good start for Lancashire teams.  

In the A division at Brierfield Lancashire (Michael Nicholson/Des King, Paul Hepworth/Rick Bentley, Colin Mitchell/Bill Alston, Jeff Smith/Jackie) finished 3rd. Colin and Bill were the best Lancashire pair on cross IMPs with Paul/Rick and Jeff/Jackie midway.

In the B division at Leeds Manchester (Alan Whittam/Paul Evans, Don Hilton/Dagmar Fazackerley, Ewart Evans/Mike Tomlinson, John Morrell/Marianne Farr) were 1st finishing 8VPs ahead of Manchester.  On the cross IMPs Alan and Paul were our best pair just ahead of Don and Dagmar with all pairs doing well.

In the C Division at Manchester, Lancashire (Angus Kirby/Brian Dormand, John & Cath Ashworth,John Dearing/Ann Burgess, Veronica Petrie/Ian Edwards) were 2nd and 8VP behind Yorkshire SE.  On the cross IMPs Angus & Brian were best just ahead of John & Cath.

Having won the NBL 'B' division again we can defend the title that we won in 2014. The event is being held at Coventry BC ( Coventry & N Warwicks Squash Club, Binley Road CV3 1HB) on Sunday 28th June starting at 12.30pm. The team selected is-

The final matches of the Northern Bridge League 2014 were played on Saturday at Bradford BC. Lancashire A were 2nd on the day to finish 3rd in the Division, Lancashire B were 3rd on the day but amassed enough overall VPs to win the division just 1 point ahead of Yorkshire. Lancashire C were also 3rd on the day to finish 2nd in the Division. This is the second year in succession that the B Team has won so congratulations to Marianne Farr,John Morrell, Nick Sutclife, David Costich, Alan Whitam, Paul Evans, Brian Ripley, Barrie Newall, Don Hilton, Dagmar Fazackerley, Andrew Lum, John Brearley, Ross Shine, Stuart Clarke, Bill Carr, Mike Tomlinson  all of whom have represented Lancashire B during the season. The 2014 Haley Cup goes to Austin Barnes and Stuart Norris. This Cup was donated by Steve Haleys widow Shirley and will be awarded each year for the best performing pairs in the NBL A Division based on the CrossImps from at least two appearances. The Cup will be presented at the forthcoming LCBA Congress. The Cup was won last year (its inaugural year) by Degsy Williams and Cros Croswell.

Congratulations to the Lancashire Team that won the National Inter County Teams of 8 B Division at West Midlands Bridge Club on Sunday 6th July 2014. The team was John Brearley/Ross Shine, John Morrell/Marianne Farr, Don Hilton/Barrie Newall, Bill Carr/Stuart Clarke. The NBL Annual Meeting was held on Thursday 24 October at Bradford BC at 11am. The County entry for a team was decreased from £75 to £50. The player entry was increased from £10 to £12. There were no other major changes in the conduct of the League. Minutes of the meeting are available on the Northern Bridge League website.

The NBL final match was played on 12 October 2013. The Lancashire A team finished 2nd (of 5 teams), the B teams finished 1st (of 8 teams) and the C team were 5th (of 7 teams). Congratulations to the successful B Team pool of Mike Tomlinson, Ewart Evans, Stuart Clarke, Bill Carr, John Morrell, Marianne Farr, Richard Bentley, Paul Hepworth, Dagmar Fazackerley, Don Hilton, Nick Sutcliffe, Andrew Lum, John Brearley, Ross Shine, Brian Ripley, Barrie Newall, Alan Whittam, Paul Evans. A team will be chosen to represent the B Team in the English County Final next year.
