23th October 2019

Apologies for absence were received from: Chris Lynn, Mike Lynn.

The meeting began at 7.00pm chaired by Paul Hardstaff.

Minutes of the 57th AGM had been made available to the meeting and were accepted with no matters arising.

Chairman. A chairman’s report had been circulated with the minutes. Continued progress in refurbishing Knowle Village Hall was noted and the AGM evening collection in lieu of table money would be donated to the refurbishment fund.

Jacqui Lewis had moved away from the area and her place on the committee as treasurer had been taken by Mike Lynn.

The club’s Wednesday sessions continued to enjoy pre-dealt hands and electronic scoring and some larger scoring devices have been tried. Bill Jones will run Wednesday classes again this year. Monday morning sessions generally muster 3 tables and have an input from Bill before they start.

Acknowledgement was made of everyone who helped to make it all happen.

Pleas were made for quicker play and volunteers to be TD.

Treasurer. A report had been distributed and was presented by Faye Doble. Finances are buoyant. A recommendation that membership subscriptions remain £5.00, Wednesday and Monday table fees should stay £2.50 (members) £3.50 (visitors) was approved by the meeting.  Heather Fairbairn asked if some better table devices for scoring could be bought.

Wednesday Start Time. Chairman suggested the official start time should be made 7.00pm rather than 7.15pm to more honestly represent our current habits and to lessen the likelihood of sessions continuing to 10.30pm and beyond.  This was approved by the meeting.

Committee. All committee members were willing to continue in office.  There were no further nominations.  The meeting approved the following committee: John Allen, Tony Cundy, Faye Doble (membership secretary), Paul Hardstaff (chair), Mike Lynn (treasurer).

Other Business. There will be no club session on Wednesday 25th December 2019. A Christmas event will be organised probably on December 18th.

Mary Andrew thanked the committee for their work and asked if they might consider reintroducing the trophies.

Tony Cundy thanked the chairman and asked the meeting if they favoured getting larger scoring handsets because “Black Friday” bargains might be an opportunity.  Most of the meeting appeared in favour.

The meeting closed at 7.25pm.
