| Club'97 Charity Event |
Club 97 members held a Charity night with a raffle and donation box for the Irish Cancer Society.
It was a great success and raised an incredible €523 on the night.
Huge thanks to the all the members who supported the event. And also to the Club and Members who contributed to the prizes.
And a very special mention to a local flower shop Forget Me Not who contributed €100 of beautiful plants as prizes.

| Novice & Intermediate Congress in Waterford 10-12 April |
The CBAI runs a special congress every year exclusively for Novices and Intermediates. This year it will be held in Waterford (home of John Phelan, President) at the Tower Hotel.
Fri 10 April 19:30 : Mixed Pairs and Gala Pairs; each 1 session
Sat 11 April 13:00 : Inter A Pairs, Inter B Pairs; both 2 sessions with a meal break;
18:00 : Novice Pairs, 1 session
Sun 12 April 11:00 : Inter & Novice Teams; 2 sessions with a short break
Entry is via the CBAI online entry system

| Irish Junior Teams come 2nd at the Peggy Bayer and Camrose events. |
 The Peggy Bayer Trophy is an annual international bridge competition for Under-21s youth teams representing the nations of Great Britain (England, Scotland, Wales, N.Ireland) and also Ireland. There is also a Camrose Trophy for Under-26s. These were held in Feburary in Scotland.
Ireland came 2nd in both the Peggy Bayer, and also the Camrose, while England won both. Well done to the Irish Team.

| 2026 Spring Competitions |
 Now that we are at the end of January, the Perpetual Trophy competitions are coming up for most clubs.
One night partners play together, and the other night they are drawn with another member within the club.

| South Midland Trophy Pairs - 2025 |
The CBAI South Midland Region will be holding their South Midland Trophy Pairs Competition
Date : Sunday 14 December, starting at 1:00 pm, at The Sevenoaks Hotel, Carlow, R93 V4K5
Tournament Director: Brian Lawlor. Entry Fee: €10 per player
There may be a short interval to allow for a cup of tea or coffee.

| Bridge Talk by Karel de Raeymaeker at Kilkenny Bridge Congress |
Karel de Raeymaeker will be giving a Bridge Talk on Saturday 22/11 at 11am in the Kilkenny Bridge Centre
Karel is a very well known Irish Bridge Player, recognized for his success in various competitions. He is currently an Irish Junior coach, and last year was awarded the President’s Merit Award by the CBAI.
All congress attendees are welcome.

| IBU Simultaneous Pairs 3-6 November 2025 |
The IBU (Irish Bridge Union - includes both CBAI (Contract Bridge Association of Ireland) and NIBU (Northern Ireland Bridge Union) - have organised the "Simultaneous Pairs" during the week 3-7 November.
Clubs from all around Ireland play the same hands and then the results can be compared on the ECATs website (ECATs)
Daily commentaries on the bidding and the play will also be available on the Ecats site, once each nightly game has finished.
Three of our clubs are participating in the IBU SIMs this year - The Rothe, Confederation 350 and Club 97.
Participation in the SIMs contributes to very valuable funds for the IBU.

| Kilkenny Bridge Centre Re-Opening 13 August |
The Bridge Centre building refurbishment has finished ahead of schedule and looks amazing.
Congratulations and many thanks to the hard working committee who worked tirelessly on our behalf   
The Centre will be open for Summer Bridge starting Wednesday 13 August at 7:15pm and will continue on 20 and 27 August
