Horning BC Committee arranged another Summer Away Day for Monday, 24th June 2019 at The Old Rectory Hotel, Crostwick.  A big vote of thanks to Laurie Platt, Jenny Hemmings and Ron Hunt who carried out the majority of the organisation required.  Also, thank you to Brian Cunningham who transported all the bridge equipment to and from the Hotel.

The days events were held in the Hotel's spacious conservatory restaurant where, on arrival, members and guests were served tea or coffee and settled into the bridge tables to await start of play.

Chairman Ron Hunt outlined the approximate timetable for the day and bridge commenced at 10:15 am.  Normal duplicate bridge was played, but having separate N-S and E-W winners to allow for separate winners on the day.

Bridge was adjourned at 12:30 pm whereupon the Hotel staff provided a delicious hot and cold buffet luncheon.  As the weather was set fair, most of the members and guests gathered outside on the garden patio to enjoy a lunchtime drink with their buffet.  The staff were excellent in providing a continuous stream of food to replace diminished plates!

Bridge re-commenced at 1:45 pm until approximately 3:15 pm when tea and coffee was available whilst the prize winners were announced and presented by Ron Hunt.

NORTH-SOUTH WINNERS: Lynne Bruce & Mike Williams

EAST-WEST WINNERS: John Love & Steve Beckley
