We had a birthday tea at Bridge on Thursday (19th) afternoon.

Summer Away Day June 9th 2025 |
The club held its annual Summer Away Day at Crostwick Old Rectory. As always the venue was excellent and we appreciate the service that we had from the hotel staff.
There were 24 pairs and we played 12 rounds of 2 boards - 8 rounds before lunch and 4 rounds after. The excellent lunch perhaps affected the concentration levels afterwards!
As usual for this event, we played a 2-winner movement.
The North-South winners were Hazel Carney and Jill Abbott.

The East-West winners were Jenny Hemmings and Ann Riley.

Prizes of bottles of wine were presented by our chair, Sue Davey.
Committee members were thanked for their hard work in making sure that we had such a lovely day.

Away Day 13th Jan 2025 |
The club held its annual Winter Away Day at The Old Rectory, Crostwick.
We were greeted with coffee/tea and biscuits before settling down to playing bridge. We had 14 full tables - a very pleasing turnout. We played 7 rounds of 2 boards before lunch and 5 rounds after lunch.
Lunch was a two-course meal - a main and a dessert. The staff managed to produce some very tasty dishes which were served very efficiently. We gave the staff a substantial tip and a round of applause!

After the final session, Jenny Pearce was presented with an orchid to mark her many years of service as a committee member. Jenny stood down at the last AGM.
The gift was presented by deputy chair, Maggie Neal.

Then came the prizes for the day's competition: North/South winners were Mike Williams and Matt Jackson.

East/West winners were Lynne Bruce and Nigel Bates.

Maggie thanked all of those who had organised and run the day.

Christmas parties 2024 |
We had our "Monday" Christmas party at Horning Village Hall on December 16th 2024.
We had six-and-a-half tables and we played a pivot movement so that we each played with as many partners as possible during the evening.
Christmas nibbles were provided by the members and wine/soft drinks were served.
As expected, the frequent change of partners led to some interesting bidding and play, with a highlight of the evening being 4Sxx +1 for 1080!
As is traditional, there was a special competition for winning a trick with a 2, which involved wearing reindeer antlers. The prize for wearing them at the end of the evening went to Reg Pfrang.
Other prizes were given for getting the best individual scores for those starting as North, South, East, and West.
North: Teresa Hales; South: Matt Jackson; East: Dot Kirby; West: Philip Hearsum.

Presentations were also made to Sue Howes and Jenny Hemmings, who were stepping down as committee members after many years service, and to Jim Fletcher who was stepping down as chair but remaining as a committee member.

All prizes were presented by the new chair, Sue Davy.
Our "Thursday" party took place at Hoveton Community centre on 19th December.

Winners (l - r) North: Diana Price: South: David Melville; East; Annie Wallis; West: Vic Ellis; Trick with a 2: Sue Maisey.
