DIAMOND WEDDING CELEBRATIONS
DIAMOND WEDDING CELEBRATIONS On Monday 10th September 2012, Daphne and Ted Taylor kindly provided wine for members to mark the happy occasion of their Diamond Wedding Anniversary which had occurred a few days earlier.

Robert Harber hosted this special occasion by greeting each member with a glass of wine on arrival and proposed a toast. Chairperson, Cathy Smith congratulated Daphne and Ted and presented them with a floral tribute provided by club members.

  • Diamond Jubilee prize to each winner
  • East Winner John Weddall
  • North Winner Suzanne Gill
  • South Winner Doreen Hamilton
  • West Winner Christine Summers
In order to mark the special event of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee, members turned out in force for a celebratory party evening of bridge. A wonderful spread of food, including lots of varieties of savouries and sweets, was provided by the members.  In additon, a special Jubilee cake was donated by Margaret de Feyter - a photo of the cake can be seen in the "More Pictures" section of this News Item.

Prior to the start of the evening's celebrations, a loyal toast was proposed by President Suzanne Gill.

After the loyal toast, a bridge pivot movement was commenced until halfway through the evening, when a break for food was announced.  Following the food interval, a raffle was held - again members were extremely generous in providing the prizes and Pat Whittle did her usual excellent job in organising the sale of the tickets which raised a total of £166.00 for the charity "Nelson's Journey".  Nelson’s Journey is a Norwich based charity which supports children and young people under the age of 18 years, living in Norfolk, who have experienced the death of a significant person in their life e.g. parent or sibling.

The bridge pivot movement was concluded, resulting in a North, South, East and West individual winner as shown below.  Each winner received a special Royal Worcester Diamond Jubilee Celebration Mug.

Chairman Cathy Smith, who was unable to attend the party, expressed her thanks to all those members who made the evening's event the success it appears to have been.
