HILDA BATLEY'S 90th BIRTHDAY
During this Monday's bridge session, 19th December 2011, we celebrated another member's 90th birthday.

Halfway through the evening's play, Chairman Bill Broughton brought the room to order and then made an announcement about Hilda's birthday.

Flowers and a card were presented to Hilda from the memebers of the Club.  Hilda thanked the Club for showing their recognition of her 90th birthday and said how much she had enjoyed being a member of the club through the years.

Members all joined in a chorus of 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY'.

CHRISTMAS PARTY - DEC 12 2011
As usual, we had a really good turn out of members to celebrate our annual Christmas Party.  Unlike last year, when we had to contend with snow and ice, this year's weather was relatively mild and no one reported any problems in travelling to or from the venue.

A sumptuous spread of food was provided by the members, including a wonderful variety of tasty savouries and sweets. More than a few members (who shall remain nameless!!) were noticed visiting the kitchen for seconds, thirds and even fourths!!

Members were also very generous in providing lots of nice raffle prizes.  The money raised from this year's raffle was a magnificent total of £183.00 and this was given to the "The Nancy Oldfield Trust", located in Neatishead. This organisation is a charity that provides a centre and facilities where anyone with a disability, or who is socially disadvantaged, can experience and participate in water-based activities on a day or residential basis.

The Club also made a presentation to Tessa (Shingler), thanking her foreverything she had done on the Committee over these past few years.

During the evening we played a Pivot movement for the bridge, resulting in a North, South, East and West indivdual winner as shown below.

You always think you can never improve on events, well we did once again this time.
The Holiday Inn provided us with splendid refreshments throughout the day which
included a delicious buffet, with so much choice.
As a Club we all throughly enjoyed the day as it made a welcome break
to the dire and dismal weather we had been experiencing for the past few weeks.
We met up with old friends and caught up with the gossip.
Most importantly we played a pivot movement of bridge which gave us lots of fun
both in the morning and afternoon.
