Chairman’s Report

The report was available on the website.  David Stimson ran through it.  He thanked the Committee members and the Directors for their contribution to the Club.  Helen added thanks to the Chairman.

Treasurer’s Report

Anne presented the accounts.  There had been an overall loss of just over £200, that would have been more but for the sale of unused trophies which had raised £100.  Jeff queried the low rate of interest on our savings account, and undertook to see if he could find a better one.  Pat Hogger asked which trophies had been sold.  We had kept those in best condition for the 4 we currently present, and one spare.  The EBU P2P charge had gone up, but HBA had reduced their charge.  If we continued to charge £1 per session, Anne had estimated a £545 reduction in our reserves for the year.  The alternative would be to increase the charge to £1.50, to cover the shortfall.  The clear majority view at the meeting was that to continue with the £1 charge would be a perfectly responsible action while our reserve is in excess of £7,000.  It was agreed that this would be reviewed again at the next AGM.

Membership

Anne explained that we now had 71 members, as opposed to 67 last year.  We retained 93 people on our mailing list.

Inspection of Accounts

Derek agreed to continue to inspect the accounts, and was duly appointed.

Election of Officers and Committee Members

In the absence of any other offers to stand, the Committee officers and members had agreed to stay in post.  They were unanimously voted back in en bloc.

Chairman:  David Stimson

Treasurer and Membership Secretary:   Anne Short

Secretary:    Margaret Ainsworth

Competitions Secretary:  Naomi Gibbs

Committee members:  Derek Peers, Lesley Peers, Roger Edmonds

AoB

Derek raised the question of the future of the Club, in view of the age of Committee members.  David had been in the Chair for 22 years, and would prefer to step down if someone else would come forward to take over.  Jeff wondered if the role of Chair could be spread around Committee members, so that just another Committee member would suffice.  No conclusion was reached, but the appeal for help needs to be heard.

The meeting closed at 19.30 and trophies were awarded as listed on the website.
