Chairman’s AGM Report 2018-19

During the past year we have run Duplicate Bridge on Monday evenings.  Again I would like to thank David Blasebalk for running the duplimating machine and Cliff & Anne Short for running the Bridgetab automatic scoring system. Cliff is now receiving asistance from Vincent Shaw.

We continued to run Supervised Play sessions on Thursday afternoons but as numbers began to fall we had no option but to cancel these from 31st May, so they won’t be available in the 2019-20 year.  A big thank you for the hard work of our supervisors: Roger Edmonds, Anne & Cliff Short, Lesley & Derek Peers, Pat Henry, George Summers and myself.

We ran our open Swiss Pairs event on Sunday 3rd March.  It again proved successful with increased numbers thanks go to Roger Edmonds for organising the event.

Very many thanks go to Lesley Peers and Anne Short for organising the Christmas Party.  They both put in a tremendous amount of hard work to make the event such a success.

It is with much sadness that Clive Walters passed away.  Clive had been a member for many years and played a big part in helping his wife Jean, run the club for 25 years.

Congratulations to the Littlewood team on winning the HBA league 1, and to Naomi Gibbs & Mike Rawlins for coming second.  Naomi & Mike also won the Hertfordshire mixed pairs and Tanja & George Summers won the Flitch (married couples).

This year we will be hosting three Herts events, the Eccles cup; the mixed pairs and the Marjorie Lukyn.

I would like to say a  big thank you to those who have served on the Committee;  Anne Short,  Margaret Ainsworth,  Lesley and Derek Peers, Pat Henry,  Roger Edmonds, and Naomi Gibbs.
