    COLIN CALOW 1926-2026

It is wih deep regret that we announce the passing of Colin Calow aged 99.

Colin and his late wife Jean were tremendous stalwarts of Hartlepool Bridge Club . They were founder members in the early 1950s, when the Club met in the Athenaeum in Church Street. Colin was Secretary from 1955-1990 and Jean Treasurer for the same period.  When they retired from bridge 20 years ago they donated the Calow Trophy to encourage new players.

Colin had a great bridge mind even when his eyesight failed in his later years. Colin and Jean had multiple successes in local and county  events. Colin also played with his brother Peter Calow.

Colin was a lovely man, much admired and respected by all. We never heard a crossword from him. A true gentleman. RIP
