We have just been informed that as of 1st of July 2024 Cedar Court are increasing the room hire to £110 per session.
This means that despite the increase of "table money", detailed below, we now require five and a half tables per session in order to break even.

After consultation with members on Thursday evening and Friday afternoon it has been decided that table money will be increased to £5 per person from Thursday the 16th of May. This decission was made reluctantly, but was needed in order for us to cover the cost for us to continue using Cedar Court as our venue. We did require six and a half tables every session in order for us to cover the room hire, but unfortunately we were often not getting this number of tables and were therefore having to use our reserves to make up the difference. Members were asked about the possibility of seeking an alternative venue in order to reduce our expenditure, but there was a strong feeling that Cedar Court was the preferred venue and members were prepared to pay the extra in order to continue playing there. If in the future there is an increase in the number of tables at our sessions we may be able to reconsider this increase, but we should also be aware that there may also be a future increase in the cost of the room hire.

An issue raised by members was the number of boards being played at a session. It is generally agreed that we should play around 21 boards per session, but there may be only 20 boards, or possibly 24 (or more) boards, depending on the number of tables .
Members are reminded that at the end of a session everyone is required to shuffle the cards for the next session, and do any necessary clearing away.
Pleas do not expect others to do this for you!

You must be at your table at least 10 minutes before a session is due to begin in order for tournament directors to calculate the session's movement and the number of boards to be played.

Anyone arriving after this time may not be able to play.
