Robot Pair - a good or a bad idea? |
You played on Monday evening when we had an odd number of pairs registered for our tournament - 17 pairs or 8½ tables
Normally this would have meant that one pair would have a sit out each round - in all 10 pairs would have had to sit out
However, we used a recently added feature on BBO which enabled us to add a robot pair to the tournament who played in the place of the sit out and so no one had to sit out a round and the ten sit out pairs played against the robot pairs
The robot pair use the 2/1 bidding system widely used in the US - and each of their bids was explained in a small box so that when you played against them, you had some idea of what they were doing.
As the robot pair make very few mistakes, they came top of the ranking!
