Originally called the Poole Flitch (for married couples) and donated by Harold Poole in 1982 during his term as Chairman.

This trophy is now awarded for mixed pairs, to allow for current times, and the competition is held in conjunction with the Rayner Trophy during July.

All pairs taking part must be made up of one man and one woman.
