Donated in recognition of the efforts of Mike Hampton in ensuring that the club was able to continue online, and established the processes and policies necessary, during the troubled times of the Covid lockdowns of 2020-22.

The trophy is awarded to the member with the highest average score in pairs events within the Club year, with a minimum requirement of playing 20 sessions during that period.

Points are calculated on each player's performance over 12 months of Club matchpoint pairs events with an average of the pair's handicaps applied to the result on the night. Any member or non-member who has played less than three times will have a large handicap applied to their result. Once handicaps have been applied, the six leading pairs are awarded 10, 7, 5, 3, 2, 1 pts. The winner is the person with the highest points total.
