The Ladder competition takes place on the ​t​hird Friday of each month​ commencing September 2026 (with a break in December) and finishing in ​J​uly 2027. The Ladder will commence in August each year from 2027.

The L​a​dder will be a one winner movement and is open to club members only.

There will be a trophy for the overall winning pair and another for the NGS competition.

There will be 1​0 sessions for the L​adder 2026-2027, and for August 2027 onwards, there will be 11 sessions each year.​ 

Only the best eight (2026-2027) and the best nine (2027-2028 onwards) scores will count for each pair to determine their final position.

If a partnership ceases to play together, the players may re-enter the L​adder with new partners. ​All previous points will be deleted. No re-working of other pairs’ past scores will take place.

A substitute partner can be a member who is not competing in the L​a​dder, has retired from the L​a​dder or a ‘double substitute’ (one member each from two competing pairs)

If two pairs swap partners for a month and both new pairings play that same month, then no points will be allocated to those pairs.   

Guests cannot be substitute partners.

A substitute partner can only be used on two occasions. If a substitute partner is used more than twice, only the best two scores with a substitute will count.

Each time a substitute partner is used, a penalty deduction of 4% will be made from the percentage score of that pair before L​a​dder points are allocated. (i.e. a score of 57% would be reduced to 53% and then L​a​dder points allocated)

L​a​dder Points will be allocated to pairs as follows: 1^st = 20, 2^nd = 9, 3^rd = 18 etc. Subsequent pairs receive no points. 

The pair performing best in the NGS Competition, relative to their rating, score as follows: 1^st = 20, 2^nd = 9, 3^rd = 18 etc. Subsequent pairs receive no points. 

Every pair playing in the Ladder in any month will be given an additional point for competing.

The results of the night’s play will be published on FBC’s website. To calculate ladder positions, the results will be merged into one list and updated throughout the year. Overall ladder results/positions will be shown on the website.

If there is a tie for first place, the winners will be the pair with the best average percentage over their ​eight scoring rounds.
