| Best Behaviour at the Table |
Bridge can be stressful and sometimes good manners can be in short supply. The club attracts players of all abilities and is keen to ensure that, whether competing or officiating, everyone is treated with respect.
These guidelines are for the benefit of members, guests and visitors, so please:
- Greet opponents before the start of play on each round.
- Do not discuss previous hands in front of new opponents.
- Have a completed convention card available for inspection.*
- After bidding is over, lead a card BEFORE recording the contract.
- Keep up with the movement, slow play is a scourge.
- Do not put drinks on the table.
- Refrain from criticising partner, or giving opponents a tutorial.
- Credit the opposition when they play well and do not gloat if you do.
- If you have a dispute call the director and do not argue about rulings (if you think the director’s ruling is incorrect politely appeal for a review).
- Turn off your cellphone.
- Enjoy yourself, it really is only a game!
*EBU convention cards are downloadable in both Word and PDF format from the EBU website page (click here).
