It is with great sadness that we report the death of club member Sally Dootson.

Sally joined us in the Beginners Bridge course in January 2026 and then did the following improvers class.  

She loved bridge, and was a regular at the evening practice sessions at Victoria Park. 

Some of you will remember her coming along to help out at later beginners courses, where she always had a cheery smile and a helpful word.

We will miss her.

There will not be a practice session on May 6th as the room is not available.

Newcourt is a polling station on May 7th so there will not be a bridge session that day.

Practice sessions are currently held at Newcourt on a Thursday at 1.30pm. Numbers have reduced of late and we will move those sessions to Wednesdays (at Newcourt) starting at 1.00pm, the same time as the normal Duplicate session, starting on May 13. The practisers can then move up to the Wednesday duplicate session in due course.

The normal Duplicate session on Thursday remains in place.

We play Duplicate Bridge at all levels - beginners to more experienced players

Face to Face bridge at the Newcourt Community Centre, Blakeslee Drive, Newcourt, Exeter, EX2 7FN.

Advanced Supervised Play on Thursdays doors open 1.10pm, arrive by 1.20pm, start at 1.30pm

Supervised Play on Wednesdays doors open 12.40pm, arrive by 12.50pm, start at 1.00pm

Face to Face Bridge at Victoria Park Club, Lyndhurst Road, Exeter, EX2 4NX

Tuesday evenings, start 6.45pm, arrive by 6.35pm.

Please arrive at least 10 minutes early.

Duplicate Pairs on RealBridge - Fridays at 3pm on RealBridge

There are teaching classes for beginners and improvers and supervised duplicate sessions for novices.

The Club is affiliated to the English Bridge Union. Membership of Exeter brings the benefits of EBU membership.

These are intended for our newer players who have completed one of the training courses and now need to get more experience of playing bridge, but are open to anyone who wants a practice game. Practice sessions are also held on Thursday afternoons at Newcourt Community Centre, from 1.30pm to 3.30pm, these will stop on May 7th and will be replaced by a practice session on Wednesday afternoons from May 13, also at Newcourt starting at 1.00pm. Need a Partner? - Hosting at Exeter Bridge Club

We want everyone who wants to play bridge at the Exeter Club to be able to get a game and never have to go home disappointed.

If you want to come along to one of the Tuesday evening sessions or Thursday afternoon sessions but don't have a partner, please contact Neville Lane on 07496 392106 or by email to nevilleslane@gmail.com a day or more before the session. He will do his best to find you a partner.

 Table Money for Exeter Bridge Club RealBridge Sessions is £2.50 for a member and £3 for non-members 

All players will be contacted with details on how payment should be made

Payment will NOT be taken on the RealBridge platform

RealBridge allows you to see and talk to the players at your table, which gives it a real "club" feel – all very different from the existing bridge websites which rely on messaging and feel much less social. All you need to play is a desktop, laptop, or tablet which ideally has a WebCam so that other players can see you when you play (the webcam is not essential but does make the event more sociable). The system is very user-friendly, and even if you have never played before online you should find it very easy to use. All our players are welcome to play in all RealBridge sessions. 

If you feel unsure whether you have the technology and skills to play, please contact Tony Rusbridge who should be able to give you any necessary advice and reassurance. If you would like to play but do not have a partner please use our partner finding system which is here. You can also enter individually and the director will assign you a partner on the day if there is one available.
