More Face to Face Bridge happening this Autumn

As summer now nearly over it's an ideal time to start filling your bridge diary for the rest of the year. Following the success of the Summer Meeting in Eastbourne, we are planning plenty more live and online events in the coming months so we hope there is something for everyone. Less experienced players should note the next Really Easy weekend will take place at Wroxton House Hotel, from 18th - 20th February 2022. There will also be an Improvers Pairs at the Great Northern Swiss Pairs event - see below for details.

Autumn Congress

The next face-to-face EBU event will be the Autumn Congress. The Two Stars Pairs will start with qualification on Friday in the form of Matchpointed Swiss Pairs. Pairs Finals and Swiss Pairs will take place on Saturday.

See below for further details.

Player of the Year Competition

Congratulations to Boye Brogeland and Espen Lindqvist, who are joint winners of the 2020/21 Player of the Year Championship. The Championship awards points for finishing in the top positions of major competitions, and Boye and Espen topped the table with a joint 20 points after both winning the Point-a-Board Teams and the Spring Foursomes. In joint third place were David Bakhshi and Simon Gillis.

The full list of those who won points can be seen here.

The first points of the 2021/22 competition will be won at the Gold Cup finals on 9th - 10th October, and then at the Autumn Congress later in the month. To be in with a chance of winning you have to take part, so check the list of competitions which make up the Championship Series and get start planning your year of bridge - see here for details.

Club and County Events in September

There are plenty of County events coming up over the next few weeks, many of them Green Pointed. Hertfordshire & Essex, Dorset, Manchester, Bedford and the Isle of Man all have events taking place. Further details can be found below, or on the EBU calendar. As these are county run events, please contact the counties directly for further information.

As always, if you have any queries about any of the events featured here then please don't hesitate to contact the Competitions Department on 01296 317203 or via comps@ebu.co.uk. Entries can be made by calling this number, or through My EBU, the members area of the website - www.ebu.co.uk/members

The NICKO
Entries close 25th September

The National Inter-Club Knockout is one of our most popular events, and is open to teams from all EBU affiliated clubs. Each club can enter an unlimited number of teams, so why not team up with your clubmates and take part?!

It is played as a knockout throughout, with the draw regionalised to reduce travelling. A Plate competition is available at no extra charge.

Please ensure that all players meet the qualification requirements to represent the club - this includes that they should have been a member of club for at least three months prior to the closing date, and this membership should have been registered with the EBU.
