RE-OPENING OF CLUB

MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Dear all

I do hope this finds you fit and well.
I am sure you are all keen to know of the Bridge Club’s plans to restart face-to-face bridge.  Given the current rate of relaxing the nationally-set
restrictions, and the importance of July 19th as a date, I thought I should write to let everyone know of our current ‘roadmap to re-opening’.

The Committee are acutely aware 'both' of some members’ enthusiasm to restart f2f bridge as soon as possible 'and' of some members’ understandable reluctance  especially given the very high COVID rates in the DH1 postcode. We are trying very hard to be driven by data and not dates.

Our current view is that the earliest possible date for reopening
is Tuesday August 3rd . We are still considering all the possibilities.  May I please stress that we have not yet decided to re-open on the 3rd . This is the earliest possible date, but we may decide that
a delay is necessary.

I am sorry I cannot be more definitive at this time, but please be assured we are doing all we can to do the right thing.

Very best wishes

Adrian

PAYMENT OF SESSION, LEAGUE & MEMBERSHIP FEES

December has now arrived and the Club has had to re-evaluate its financial position. To date we have, as you know, been running the Leagues online without charge; since we began the online Tueday pairs we have also been running this as a free to members service. Durham online bridge has been free to members since Lockdown v1.0 began, but unfortunately this is not sustatainable. So, with regret but with necessity, we are introducing charges as follows:

(i) with effect from December 1st the Tuesday charge remains at £2.50 per session per non-member but there is a new charge of £2.00 per session per member.

(ii) with effect from the start of Season 10 there is a new charges per BBO League season set at £3.75 per Club member and £5.00 per non-member.

Can players please, where they can, pay by BACS, monthly in arrears (using ‘Tuesday pairs’ as the reference); for those without access to online banking please post cheques to the Centre.

For each BBO season can players please pay by BACS, within that season (using ‘BBO League’ as the reference); again, for those without access to online banking can players please post cheques to the Centre.
