Return of the Fanagan League

Dublin South Region is delighted to announce the return of the much loved Fanagan League!

This season we are hoping that more clubs than ever will support us with our re-launch.

There will be FIVE different Leagues for 2022-2023:

• Senior Intermediate aged 60+ years and of intermediate grade   
• Confined Master  10 to < 100 national points
• Intermediate A 2 to < 10 national points
• Intermediate B 2,000 local points to < 2 national points
• Novice less than 2,000 local points

Further information and entry forms will be sent to clubs shortly - with a closing date of Friday 27th October 2022 for completed entries.

League matches will be scheduled between Thursday 1st November 2022 and Friday 5th May 2023, and the Grand Finale Night at Templeogue Bridge Centre at 7pm on Sunday 14th May 2023

The Fanagan League is a long-standing and much-loved feature of the Dublin South bridge calendar.  Kindly sponsored since 1998 by Fanagans Funeral Directors, it is an inter-club team of four competition, run on a round-robin format, on a home and away basis, across a number of grade and age categories.  The objectives of the league are to promote teams bridge and to encourage inter-club competition.  The players who have played in it over the years have really enjoyed it, and have found it a great way to visit other clubs and make new friendships (albeit competitive ones!),  It is traditional that the league concludes each year with an end-of-season gala event and prize-giving, with food and wine provided - this year's end-of-season event will be on Sunday 14th May 2023, in Templeogue Bridge Centre.

In 2022/23 there will be leagues for the following categories:

Novice

Intermediate B

Intermediate A

Confined Master (less than 100 National Points, but note that no team may field more than two Regional Masters - players with more than 40 National Points - in any one match within the competition). There may be a separate area master division if there are sufficient entries.

Senior Intermediate (aged 60+ years and of Intermediate A or B grade)
