Dounby Bridge Club |
Welcome to the Dounby Bridge Club website. We take our bridge seriously but not too seriously and aim always to be a friendly and welcoming Club.
Sessions start at 7:00 pm each evening but players are asked to arrive 10-15 minutes beforehand and if everyone booked in has arrived play may start early.
Some members also play at Orkney Bridge Club in Kirkwall. Click on the card icons at the top left and top right of the page to open their website in a new window.

September 2023 Bridge Sessions |
September seems to be a favourite month for players to take some of their annual holidays so weekly numbers of available players are lower than normal. For this reason, please note the following:
Duplicate Pairs
There will be no Duplicate Pairs bridge during September 2023. Bookings are open for October and we hope to restart the season then if sufficient players have returned from holidays.
Individual Rubber Bridge
The scheduled Individual Rubber Bridge sessions scheduled for 8 and 15 September 2023 have been cancelled.
The sessions for 22 and 29 September 2023 are being kept under review and a decision will be made on whether or not they can go ahead will be made nearer the time.

30th Anniversary Event |
Dounby Bridge Club was established in its original form some thirty years ago back in September 2003. Members have come and gone and only two of the original members, Sheila Lyon and her son Graham Lyon, are still active members of the Club. On 1 September 2023 the Club held a 30th Anniversary Individual Rubber Bridge event to mark the occasion. Sixteen players took part, playing six rounds with different partners. The prize winners were:
Overall winner - Iris Clyde (3410 points)
Runner Up - Clinton Rendall (3140 points)
Highest single round - Gladys Marwick and Margaret Mainland (1380 points)
Consolation prize - Jean Tulloch (820 points)
To my shame, I omitted to take any photos on the night and have had to resort to showing just a photo of the banner celebrating the event. Sorry, prizewinners!! Thank you to everyone who booked in to take part.
Many thanks to those who contributed to the buffet which amounted to far more than we could possibly eat between us but was delicious. Well done everyone.
