Dounby Bridge Club
Welcome to the Dounby Bridge Club website. We take our bridge seriously but not too seriously and aim always to be a friendly and welcoming Club.
Sessions start at 7:00 pm each evening but players are asked to arrive at least 15 minutes beforehand and if everyone booked in has arrived play may start early.
Some members also play at Orkney Bridge Club in Kirkwall. Click on the card icons at the top left and top right of the page to open their website in a new window.

The Duplicate Pairs 2025-26 competition was due to start on 7 October but owing to a technical hitch that session turned into a friendly bridge evening. The competition start date has therefore changed to 14 October. The competition will run through to the last Tuesday in April 2026 with a break over the Christmas and New Period.

2025 Individual Rubber Bridge
The 2025 Individual Rubber Bridge competition has been running since January and we are now into the latter stages of the competition which ends on 19 December. Graham Lyon currently leads with a score of 47300 points for his ten best results, with Clinton Rendall lying second on 42820 points and Iso Tipler lying third on 39880 points. Although Graham has a very good lead at the moment and will be hard to catch it is still possible and for the minor placings to change.

2024-25 Duplicate Pairs Competition Concludes

The 2024-25 Duplicate Pairs competition concluded on Tuesday, 15 April although it has to be said that the winners became unreachable some considerable time ago. Congratulations to Dave Higgins & Sandy McConnachie who won with an average of 68.33 for their best 10 results and also achieved the High Score award for the best single session result of 82.50. Runners up in the competition were Iso & Malcolm Tipler with an average of 62.43.
Duplicate Pairs is now taking a summer break and the 2025-26 season will start on the first Tuesday in October. There may be some new pairings next season and we hope that the eventual winners will be given a tougher task as we are expecting to have some new/additional pairings taking part. The more pairs there are the less extreme the scores are likely to be and the fiercer the competition (or so we hope!!)
Individual Rubber Bridge will continue on Friday evenings throughout the year provided that there are sufficient players each week.
