Credit Valley Bridge Association Tournament Chair, Denise Donovan, welcomed record setting numbers of bridge players to the Caledon East Fall Sectional September 22nd/23rd. Famed author, tourguide, and teacher Barbara Seagram, with Alex Kornel, kickstarted the event with a free workshop entitled “ Queen, Queen, who has the Queen?” to an eager crowd of 160. The first 30 to register received a free copy of Barbara's Pocket Guide to Defensive Play. Generous donations from the workshop participants and the Credit Valley Bridge Association raised $1153 to support Barbara's Cambodian Projects http://www.barbaraseagram.com/cambodia-laos-fundraising-support.html http://www.banyantreeorganization.com

Throughout the weekend players were treated to Denise's very own home baked muffins, a variety of fruits, apple cider, tea and coffee. We wish to thank the volunteers from St. James Anglican Church who provided delicious hot soups and sandwiches during the lunch breaks. Have a look at our News Page for pictures!

Saturday's attendance was boosted by strong participation in the ninety-niner and Non-Life master sections, from home unit 166, and neighboring units 246 and 249. On Sunday, a free “ Swiss Team Tactics” workshop was presented by Denise to an enthusiasic gathering of newcomers. The Bracketed Swiss Team events saw 59 teams competing in 7 brackets bringing the table count for the weekend to 286.5 up slightly from last year's record attendance.
