The Ribble Valley's premier Bridge Club.

Welcome to Clitheroe bridge club

The Annual committee meeting which preceeds the AGM is now postponed until further notice. The AGM is consequently also postponed until further notice.

Due to the accelerating pace of change with reference to Coronavirus, the committee have taken the decision to close the club with IMMEDIATE effect. The risks now outstrip the rewards of playing bridge and we feel we must make our members wellbeing our priority.

The position will be reviewed after Easter but we should be prepared for the club to be closed for several months. Further updates will be published on the web site.

Roy Ward  Chairman.

Welcome to Clitheroe Bridge Club web site. We are a small friendly club and play duplicate bridge twice weekly on Monday and Thursdays. We play in the school hall of Chatburn primary school beginning at 19.15 prompt, our sessions normally finish at 22.00pm New members and visitors with some playing ability are assured of a warm welcome. Currently there is no host system. Parking at the club is not a problem with a small parking lot adjacent and plenty of road side parking.

Covid-19 a message from the chairman.

I hope everyone is keeping safe and well. I only know of one member who contracted Covid-19 and that was when abroad, happily they are fully recovered.

As the government begin to ease lockdown I consider the situation to still be very toxic. There is no chance the club will open in the short term and I am not optimistic for the medium term.

Although we can spread the tables very well at Chatburn, we still have to sit in close proximity to play. I am sure nobody wishes to play an evenings bridge wearing a mask but gloves are a possibility. Then there is toilet hygiene to be considered with the use of disinfectant etc after each visit. Further to this is how the school headmistress feels about when it is safe for the club to return. I do not envisage me having that conversation for some time yet. If there are problems with returning to Chatburn I will of course speak to our friends at Clitheroe Golf Club. There is almost certainly going to be a second wave, probably in late Autumn/ early winter which could complicate matters further.

When I feel the time is right I will convene a committee meeting to discuss the situation and make plans to reopen the club in a safe manner and what precautions we will need to put in place. The safety of all members must be of paramount importance.
