Christmas Greetings |
The Clare Committee would like to wish all Clare members a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year.
As we have been unable to have our usual Christmas Party this year, the Committee decided that it would be appropriate to make a charitable donation on your behalf, and so the Club has sent £400.00 to the foodbank in Sudbury, in the hope that this will support those less fortunate than ourselves at this time of year.

Joyce Wood |
 ♥ ♥ ♥ Joyce Wood ♥ ♥ ♥
Joyce has recently made the decision to step down for Clare’s Committee. Although it has saddened me to accept her resignation I completely understand the reasons she gave me. Joyce has been a member of the Committee for several years in the role of Minuting Secretary which has been invaluable, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank her for all her support for the Club. I am sure that she will continue to contribute to the Club once we are all back together again.

What do director's do? |
Directing on BBO is different to directing at the club because you cannot play.
You are all so well behaved that, most of the time, we have nothing to do. So......
What do directors do? One of us does embroidery.

♠♠ New EBU 9-high relaxed tournament ♠♠ |
The EBU 9-high relaxed tournament starts at 11am every day.
Like all their other games, these will be 12 boards costing BB$1.50 each. This not only helps the EBU but also puts 1/3 of the money into a fund for supporting our clubs
They will be aimed at less-experienced players and those who have an NGS no higher than a 9
Only Level 2 agreements will be allowed (no multi 2Ds) and we expect that Acol will be the dominant system, although simple five-card majors systems will be allowed
Players who don’t follow the ethos of the games will be asked not to come back – do tell the TD if your opponents fall into this category
“Undos” will be allowed if you mis-click – but they aren’t intended to allow you to change your mind once you have chosen a call or play, just for mis-clicks

EBU Pairs on BBO |
The EBU runs five 12-board games on BBO every day, all of which give master points and are processed for the NGS. The "Fast Game at High Noon" is played at 5 minutes a board for those who like to play faster than their usual games.
The remaining games are played at a gentler 7 minutes a board and start at 2pm, 3:30pm, 7:30pm and 9pm. They cost $1.50, of which 50c per game will go to a fund for our clubs.
