Ipswich&Kesgrave Bridge Club is holding a Blue-pointed Swiss Pairs event on Sunday 8th September, starting at 11.30. Click on ONLINE for an online entry form or on PRINT for a printable entry form.
Suffolk Autumn Pairs is held on Sunday 15th September in Lavenham Village Hall, starting at 12.00. The event is planned to amalgamate Mixed Pairs, Married Pairs and Ladies&Men's Pairs into one and a sandwich lunch will be provided at the interval. We play at the Old School, Clare CO10 8PX every Monday evening at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. We use Bridgemates for scoring and we have duplimated boards so hand records are available after the game and on the website. We pride ourselves on our friendliness and good manners.
We particularly welcome visitors and are keen to encourage new players. If we can help in any way please contact a member of the committee.

Our club is offering a half hour teaching session before play at the club, once a month, going over conventions or bridge theories. Sessions will always be on the first Monday of the month, starting at 6.15 and finishing at 6.45.
1th March was the first teaching lesson and we hope it was successful and enjoyable!
Monday, 5th August we'll look at Hold up play defending 3NT.
A new bidding feature was launched last month on our Suffolk County Bridge Association. To test your bidding skills just click on AUCTION.
This year the event was staged at Ipswich&Kesgrave (9 1/2 tables), at Abbeygate (8 tables) and at Clare (5 tables).
The Senior Pairs was won by David & Jenny Price who just pipped Din Gudka & Cathy Rowland. Joan Watson & Patsi Barnes who were third won the Veterans' Trophy. To see all the scores click on RESULTS.
It's time for the SUMMER PARTY!
A summer party to remember: a glass of wine followed by delicious food, although the words hardly do justice to the perfect display produced by various members. The event attracted 46 people, among whom were our Belgian friends from Huy. A huge thank you to those who made this happen.

LAWSHALL CHARITY BRIDGE EVENT
The bridge drive was held in aid of restoration fund for Lawshall Catholic Church. The event raised £482.50, many thanks to everybody's generosity.

CLUB TEAMS OF 4 & RELAXED TEAMS - Sunday 30th June - Lavenham village hall - the event attracted 12 teams.
Because this event coincided with our club summer party and the visit of our friends from Huy, none of or members took part and it was a lovely summer party!

AGM evening 2019
The event started with Sarah's agenda about the previous year and the presentation of the trophies. As promised, our chairman finished in time for the bridge session that followed.
The 2018 winners were:
Angie & Will Pavry won two trophies: the Beryl Dorey and the one for most slams bid and made.
Gerry Ford & Paddy Lockwood won the Club Charity Pairs for Huy Crystal Column Trophy.
Jenny & David Price won the Club Memorial Pairs for David Hume Trophy.
Cleopatra Hensby & Andrew Moore won the Club Cross-Imps for Norman Denny Trophy.
John Symons and his team - Patience and Philippa, Fred and Mo, Jenny and Peter, Robert and Derek - for Poslingford Plate.

Clare Swiss Pairs 2019
Many thanks to those who organised this succesful event in which 52 pairs took part.
The winners were Simon Stokes & Alison Lloyd with the runners up Jenny & David Price. Gerry Ford & Chris Hollingsworth qualified on third. The ascenders prize was won by Gill Newton and Audrey Tillett.

A qualifying round was held on 22nd October 2018.
The semi-final round was held on 15th February where forty eight pairs took part. To see all the scores click RESULTS.
The top 24 played in the final at Nayland on Sunday, 14th April. Quite a few pairs from our club took part, Jane & Andrew Moore holding the narrowest of leads over Debby Sutcliffe & Maria Allnutt. But when the last score was introduced into the bridgemate, the positions were reversed. To see all scores click FINAL .
The Poslingford Plate 2019
Last year was the inaugural teams of eight match for the Poslingford Plate, between Stansfield and Clare.
This year, to quote John Symons, "by the skin of only one tooth Clare have retained this iconic trophy beating Stansfield by TWO IMPS! "

We were saddened to learn of the death of Peter Bignell, Conor's father. He was a strong character and a keen good bridge player, also a member of the club committee.
We send our condolences to his family. His funeral will be at 15.00 on Thursday 1st August at Risby Crematorium. Any donations directly to EBED. No flowers please.
