Clare Bridge Club - come and join the fun! Mondays at 7.00 for 7.15
Welcome to the Clare Bridge Club website

We play at the Old School, Clare CO10 8PX every Monday evening at 7pm for a 7.15pm start. We use Bridgemates for scoring and we have duplimated boards so hand records are available after the game and on the website. We pride ourselves on our friendliness and good manners.

We particularly welcome visitors and are keen to encourage new players. If we can help in any way please contact a member of the committee.

If you explore this website you will find more details about this club and information on forthcoming club and local events. We are affiliated to the English Bridge Union and play with 19 other clubs in the Suffolk Contract Bridge Association.

SUPERVISED PLAY - CANCELLED

Because of lack of interest, the event is cancelled!

We are very fortunate to have some extremely experienced International, National and County players in the Club who are willing to give their time and expertise to help develop players. We are planing to hold four "supervised play" sessions a year, open to any bridge play at whatever level, and the first of these booked on Wednesday 13th November from 7.15 is cancelled. The general idea is to be able to bid and play hands, some of which will be especially selected to be more challenging, while being able to call on the "supervisors" for support either with the bidding or the play or both!

Please let Sarah Farr know if you are interested, email nick.farr2@btinternet.com

Bridgebites Programme

Our club is offering a half hour teaching session before play at the club, once a month, going over conventions or bridge theories. Sessions will always be on the first Monday of the month, starting at 6.15 and finishing at 6.45.

Monday, 2nd December we'll look at Reversing.

A new bidding feature was launched on our Suffolk County Bridge Association. To test your bidding skills just click on AUCTION.

SUMMER LEAGUE 2019

Clare Bridge Club has two teams: one in Division 1 and one in Division 2. The members of the team in Division 1 are: David&Jenny Price, Andrew&Jane Moore, Rosemarie Mascall, Nick&Sarah Farr, Tony Philpott, Tony Aldous and Cleopatra Hensby. The members of the team in Division 2 are: John Symons, Joyce Wood, Jan Havard-Davies, Adele Wayman, David Goodliffe, John Hooper, Will&Angie Pavry, Derek Brinkley, Dave Allen. A very good job was done by John Symons and Joyce Wood who played for the team in Division 1 also, helping the team to become champion! The Div.2 team didn't do too bad either, coming second, so they might be promoted to Div.1 next year. We have to wait for the final matches between the top 2 teams for this. It's time for the SUMMER PARTY!

A summer party to remember: a glass of wine followed by delicious food, although the words hardly do justice to the perfect display produced by various members. The event attracted 46 people, among whom were our Belgian friends from Huy. A huge thank you to those who made this happen.

And some of Joyce's delicious short-bread:

Of course that good bridge followed after such an enjoyable lunch:

CLUB TEAMS OF 4 & RELAXED TEAMS - Sunday 30th June - Lavenham village hall - the event attracted 12 teams.

Because this event coincided with our club summer party and the visit of our friends from Huy, none of or members took part and it was a lovely summer party!

To see the overall results click on TEAMS or RELAXED.

The Suffolk Contract Bridge Association is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year.
