2024 Green Point event - will be held on Saturday 9th March 2024 in the Harry Bound Room at Les Cotils (from 1pm to 7pm).
This is a competition for pairs and is open to everyone. There are prizes for top 3 placed pairs – the winners get the Pitcher Trophy too. And the highest placed non-expert pair (both players below Regional Master) will also win a prize. So there is something available for everyone. For those who haven’t played in in the Green Points or a Congress before please do give it a go. It is a nice, relaxed way to try out playing in a competition and to win green points on-island. Green points are won in national events and are necessary for progress up the EBU master rankings.
This year we will be trying to keep the costs down by not including lunch during the competition. However hot and cold drinks will be available from the bar all afternoon (at own cost) and there will be a light snack available for players (provided without charge). If you then want to celebrate a full afternoon of Bridge by eating at the lovely Les Cotils restaurant – book your evening meal with them direct on 727793.
Whilst this is not an invitation-only event – all welcome – we do want to make sure we have full tables/the right boards so pairs will need pre-book their places. Please email me direct asap on my personal email – email@example.com – to confirm that you and your partner want to take part. I will need to confirm numbers by Monday 4th March so please let me know sooner rather than later. NB, I do work full time so please don’t expect an immediate response but I will be back in touch to confirm that I have reserved your places.
We can accept some cash payments on the afternoon of the event but it really helps for entry fees to be pre-paid so we would appreciate that if it is possible. Please pay your £20 entry money (per player) by bank transfer to Account Name: Channel Islands Contract Bridge Association (Guernsey), Sort Code: 30 93 73, Account Number: 01275497 . Please use your name(s) and the word ‘Green’ as the payment reference. This will help our Treasurer, Michelle Galpin, identify what the payment is for.
If anyone would like to be a reserve player for the competition please let me know. Ideally we would like 1 or 2 people willing to be on call to come up to Les Cotils if needed.
If you have any further questions please email Julie at firstname.lastname@example.org or speak to her at club.
