Teams event for novices and beginners

November

Each team consists of three players who are ranked no higher than B2 and one experienced player.  Entry restricted to 11 teams – priority given to members. 

Two-board matches between each team, scored on total IMP basis.

HARROWER CUP

Teams competition for lower ranking club members

Tuesdays Oct to Dec

Teams of 4 Carlton members who are District Master or below.  Up to 6 members per team allowed.

VP’s in 24 board match between each team.  Team with highest VP total wins.   Matches can be arranged on other days if agreed by both teams.  All matches must be played by last Tuesday of competition.

3 Tuesdays Feb/March

Teams of 4 open to all Carlton members.  Up to 6 members per team.

All play all each night.  Scoring by VP’s over aggregate IMP score over the 4 nights.  Trophy for handicap winner.

Open to all Carlton members.  Best three scores count.

Best three scores count (must be with same partner).

2 nights in November

Open to all Carlton members.  Pairs (one male, one female) must play both weeks to be eligible.

Match pointed each night, best overall percentage score wins.

Monday in March

Open to all Carlton members who are senior according to SBU rules (60 on the first January that year. 

Match pointed.

2 Thursdays in April

Open to all Carlton Members up to and including Senior Life Masters.  Up to six members per team.

Scoring by VP’s.  Usually 3 x 8 board matches each evening.  Minimum entry 12 teams.  If there is an odd number of teams, then the last entered will be asked to withdraw.

Wednesdays from June to April

Awarded to the member who wins most master points on Wednesdays from June to April each year.

Thursdays from January to March

Awarded to the member who wins most master points on the first ten Thursdays of each calendar year

RUSSELL CUP*

Pairs Competition.  Players play with different partners. 

22/23 Tuesdays between April and Sept

Open to non-members.

Individual with best 6 scores wins.  Maximum of 3 counting scores with any one partner. 

Any winning pair scoring 70% or more on a night on which at least seven tables are in play will receive a special cash prize of £50. 

( If two or more pairs tie for this prize it will be shared.)

There will be an award to the person ranked National Master or below who returns the highest average.
