♠♥♦♣Registration is now open for the 2026 Carlton Congress♠♥♦♣ 

The format is a Pairs competition followed by an excellent buffet supper and then a Swiss Teams competition.

The event is open to all SBU members.  There is an enhanced master point allocation for those who do well.

It starts at 12 midday with Pairs. Supper will be around 4.00 pm and then Swiss Teams around 5.15pm.  The club will be open from 11.00 am with drinks and light snacks available all day.

If you want to play in the teams and don’t have team mates or are looking for a partner in the pairs, please email Congress@carltonbridge.co.uk

This year registration is all online with separate entry forms for each section:

Pairs £14 per pair

Teams £28 per team

Supper £16 each (food selection to be completed by each player)

Scottish Bridge in partnership with BAMSA

Sunday 13th September, 11am - 4pm

Itinerary: Petit Bridge and Mini Bridge tasters for newcomers as well as a 12-board duplicate competition for youth players.

Families can come along and bring siblings to try the tasters in the morning. Parents/Carers are also welcome to join the tasters at a separate adults table.    Please register your interest with Claire Little  claire@thelittles.co.uk

Classes for the 2026/27 season commence end September:

Improvers with Ross (right) Mondays 1pm 28th Sep - 30th Nov, 11th Jan - 15th Mar, 12th Apr - 14th June. £50/term.

Beginners with Alison Tuesdays 1pm 29th Sep - 1st Dec, 12th Jan - 16th Mar, 13th Apr - 15th June. (£5 per lesson, no need to sign up for a whole term)

There is a 7pm Wednesday Evening Beginners class with Derek Sanders. Information via the Edinburgh No Fears website HERE 

The Tuesday Novice Tournament with Elizabeth has a lesson, generally on the first Tuesday of the month at 1pm 

The next lesson, September 8th is:  Forcing Bids & Strong Hands

Play & Learn:     relaxed guided play with board commentary,  Thursdays 13:30   restarting after summer break    October 1st - December 3rd.

You can turn up for the Tuesday Novice and Wednesday Bronze (Intermediate) afternoon tournaments with or without a partner or signing up.

Visitors can sign up using the name CBC Visitor01 or CBC Visitor02, or email web@carltonbridge.co.uk and I can do that for you.

Online Tournaments, on BBO:

All BBO tournaments have a Partnership Desk. If you register there, you have a good chance of getting a game either with somebody else looking for a partner or as a sub (a free game). 

To take part in BBO tournaments you need to join BBO and register your username at online@carltonbridge.co.uk For the award of masterpoints, members should also update their MemPad account with their BBO name

If you need help joining a tournament, contact the TD via BBO and they will be glad to assist you.
