The Club has to be closed between 3rd April (Good Friday) to Friday 17th April due to Easter and redecoration activities in the Church Hall. The Club at the AGM acknowledged it would be difficult to play at a different venue and members voted against playing the sessions online. The Club will reopen for Bridge on Friday 24th April 2026.

Welcome to Canterbury Duplicate Bridge Club
Club 3 Friday Closure

Dear All

We are closed for Good Friday as normal but unfortunately we also have to be closed on the 10th and 17th of April due to redecoration and other works commissioned by the church on HSE grounds. It had been discussed and  agreed at the AGM not to seek a Temporary venue for these 2 Friday evenings, but wait until the church hall reopened. We will be back open for Bridge on Friday 24th April and look forward to seeing everyone back then.

Have a Great Easter Holiday

Kind regards

Club Secretary

National Pairs - EBU

In 2026 a player in a pair scoring  55% or over in a club game between 1st and 14th Feb (For Canterbury that was the Friday 6th and Friday 13th) will be entitled to play in the Regional Finals on 22nd March with their qualifying partner or in a partnership with another player who has also qualified (from a different partnership that achieved the qualification score in that period at any EBU club).

The EBU were pleased that the below members who played at your club have qualified to play in the National Pairs Regional Finals, taking place on Sunday 22nd March.

There will be five regional finals, run by counties on both BBO and RealBridge, with trophies awarded for each region.

The regional finals in your area (South Eastern) will be run by Middlesex (RealBridge) and Sussex (BBO). Further details can be found on the National Pairs page.

Combined scores will determine the top 50 pairs who will be entitled to play in the National Pairs Final, 11th - 12th  April on RealBridge.

The players to qualify at Canterbury were as follows:

Steve Auchterlonie & Mark Benson - Paul Gibbons & Sharon Bayne - Brigid Lavelle & Richard Wilkinson - Tricia Pengelly & Jenny Vening - Malcolm Schofield & Andy White,

Entry fees for the regional finals will be £13 per player. Players may qualify from any club in the country but at least one player from each pair must have allegiance to a county of the region in which they play the regional final. Two players who both qualify in different partnerships may form a new partnership to play in a regional final.

The results within the regions will be used to award the five regional trophies. All five regions will also be combined and scored nationally to determine the top 50 pairs, who will be entitled to play the National Pairs Final on RealBridge on 11th - 12th April 2026.

All the information is on the EBU website (Link https://www.ebu.co.uk/competitions/national-pairs)

'Partner Finder' or Host

We are currently unable to routinely offer a Host or Partnering service.

The Club operates a members only WhatsApp partner group. If the secretary has enough notice (min 72 hours) he may be able to see if a partner can be found, on request, for a non-member of the WhatsApp group as a one-off request. (it is expected for new members to join the WhatsApp group for future requests).
