News Update:

The Wednesday.  session on Realbridge has recently been a joint affair with the Bury and Cambridge Bridge Club.

Due to falling numbers a third club - Farnham Bridge Club has recently merged their Wednesday session so now we have 3 clubs playing.

Start time is still 7-30 pm and the number of boards played is now up from 22 to 24.

Bury St Edmunds Bridge Club is hosting the annual Anne Nunn Trophy at the Southgate Community Centre on Thursday 17th September.

The event has been a regular fixture for many years and this year is open to all players who have an affiliation to the Suffolk Contract Bridge Association (SCBA).

Wine and nibbles will be on offer from 6.15pm with players seated by 6.50 pm. Table monies will be £4 per player for non Bury Club members.

Last year's winners were Josh Santinelli-Clarke and Denis Valtisiaris, here being presented with the trophy by Anne.

The Autumn Festival - an SCBA event is taking place at Elmswell on Sunday the 13th Sept

We are a friendly duplicate Bridge Club welcoming new and visiting players, meeting every Thursday evening at Southgate Community Centre, Caie Walk, Bury St Edmunds, IP33 2PJ.

Please arrive at 6:45 for 6:50 pm start. We aim to finish promptly by 10pm.

We also play on Wednesday evening on RealBridge starting at 7:30 pm

We are:

Trialling a partner hosting service. This will not be every week, but we will advertise in advance, so if your regular partner is away and you haven’t been able to sort out a replacement, you can still turn up on the evening and have a game. More details to follow.

Aiming for a special event on one Thursday evening each month. This building upon the ever-popular Anne Nunn Trophy and Swiss Pairs. Chairman’s Cup coming soon. Includes inviting Abbeygate, Risbygate, and Stansfield to establish friendly team matches with us.

Providing further support to the enthusiastic and growing community of intermediate players including a few teach-in sessions before play and mentoring to help people into the club and gain tips (but not their bad habits!) from more experienced players  

Starting a library of Bridge books. Please hunt out any bridge books you have sitting gathering dust on bookshelves at home that you would like to share.

We have also started a new Whats Ap group for the Bury Bridge Club Members. This may be helpful in a number of ways - not least as a means to advertising for a partner if you would like to play on a night and do not have your regular partner.

Three more points to make note of:

1. Use Chrome rather than Edge as your browser as RealBridge works better on Chrome
2. If you lose connection, refresh or leave and log back in again
3. If necessary you can control the volume of players by using the mic symbol to the right of a persons name

The charge for each session is £2.00 and you will be billed by Joan our Treasurer who will send you an email every 2 months.
