CHANGE TO WEDNESDAY EVENING BRIDGE |
From Wednesday the 22nd of May, the Bury St Edmunds evening session on RealBridge will combine with the Cambridge Bridge Club
with a starting time of 7:30.
Both clubs have seen falling numbers for their session since the introduction of the EBU National League that runs at the same time.
Hopefully this joint collaboration will add several more tables making the evening a more enjoyable experience.
All Bury players will continue to log on using the log on from the Bury website as usual. Although Cambridge will act as the ‘host’ club.
Bury will provide a ‘Director’ on a rota basis once the sessions have started to run.

Supervised play for improvers |
In January 2023 our club introduced a supervised play session that runs alongside the normal club duplicate on Thursday nights.
Supervised play is open to all players who have advanced from ‘beginners’ to ‘improvers.’ The session will be run by an experienced player or qualified EBU teacher.
Hands will be pre dealt with help and guidance on bidding and hand – play, so this will suit a player with some experience or has completed a beginner class.
Starting at 7pm the class will usually finish 9 – 9-30 pm

New monthly Duplicate Handicap |
On 29 June we held the first of a new ‘handicap duplicate’ session. It was a big success and attracted 9 tables. These sessions will continue on the last Thursday of each month for the foreseeable future
The handicap system will be based on the NGS of each player giving each pair a + or – depending upon their ranking. Players on a low NGS will have the advantage over more highly rated players. A handicap may benefit the less experienced player by giving him or her a better chance, but it also benefits the better player by producing more of a challenge.
All club members and newcomers welcome, the usual table money of £2.50 per person applies. Bury Bridge Club play at 7pm at Southgate Community Centre. Please arrive from 6.30pm.

ON-LINE BRIDGE ON WEDNESDAYS |
Simply click on the above Link and you will be able to join.
Once on the home page you will need to fill in your name and your EBU membership number in the ID box and then join a table opposite your partner if they are already there, if not click on an empty space.
Three more points to make note of:
- Use Chrome rather than Edge as your browser as RealBridge works better on Chrome
- If you lose connection, refresh or leave and log back in again
- If necessary you can control the volume of players by using the mic symbol to the right of a persons name
Some people have found circular blue and white icons appearing in front of their bidding cards if they are using Edge. They appear as image001.png and image002.png. It is caused by a feature of Edge called 'visual search'. This feature should be disabled when using RealBridge. To do that hover over the icon, (or the upper of the 2 icons) so that you can see the lower icon with 3 dots in it. Click on the 3 dots and a submenu will appear like this: image003.png, then do "hide for this site" (If you want to disable this feature for all websites click "hide always")
The charge for each session is £2.00 and you will be billed by Joan our Treasurer who will send you an email every 2 months.
