Welcome to Briter Bridge
About our club

Do you want to play bridge in Bromley in a friendly relaxed atmosphere? Perhaps with a meal or drink before or after your game. We are a duplicate bridge club based in the Parklangley Club in Wickham Way, Beckenham - located in Bromley, Kent, between West Wickham and Beckenham and on the hail and ride section of the 352 bus route. We play duplicate bridge on a Tuesday afternoon and evening using Bridgemates and pre-dealt hands. There are introductory sessions for those wishing to brush up their bridge or learn duplicate on a Tuesday morning.Visitors are always welcome but members will take priority if there is insufficient room.  For more details and contact information click here.

About our club

Playing bridge helps keep your mind active and joining a club helps to improve your play and make new friends. We have provided some guidance on sources of lessons and clubs aimed at beginners. Have a look here.

On a Tuesday morning at 11:00 we are currently running sessions aimed at those who know some of the basics but have never played duplicate bridge - we've started going over the basics of bidding and responding and our subsequent play sessions help participants to learn more about ACOL conventions, duplicate etiquette, using bidding boxes and bridgemates, announcing and alerting etc in a relaxed atmosphere. Please contact our Chairman, Tim , for an informal discussion. The sessions cost £5 per person per week and finish just in time to stay on and get a lunch or drink in the bar.

If you want to try us out but don’t have a playing partner please contact Janet  and she will try to pair you up for a session.

For more information on becoming a member view our policy document or go to the applying for membership page.

The members only pages provide several ways of finding a partner, Duty Officer guidance, committee meeting minutes and more

If you are a member and having difficulty accessing the Members Only pages please email Jan: webmaster@briterbridge2.org.uk

Cafe Bridge

There is a cafe Bridge event in aid of St Christopher's hospice in Beckenham on 13th October.  The game is spread out over a number of cafes and pubs in Beckenham. You play a round in one venue and then move on to meet your next opponents. For a review of the recent event in West Wickham and more details please click here.

COVID-19

Although legal restrictions have been lifted please don't attend if you have not been vaccinated or have any covid  or cold like symptoms or have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive or is awaiting the results of a test.  There is a maximum of 8 tables. We play with the door and window vents open and regularly clean the equipment . Please bring your own refreshments and the exact table money (£3 for members and £4 for visitors).  The bar and restaurant will be open.

Until further notice it would still help with planning if you tell us by midday Monday that you wish to play on Tuesday evening. This will enable us to alert you if there are likely to be too many or too few players or we have had to cancel.

We held this year's AGM on 27th September. The draft minutes can be viewed here . The highights are: table money now  members £5, visitors £6; annual subs £10 and now due; there is a Tuesday morning session at 11:00 for those new to duplicate; the next weekend is in Folkestone 6-8 October 2023; a handicap system for the annual competition. You can still download the documents from the events page
