Welcome to Briter Bridge 2

In the light of Government Legislation bridge sessions are still suspended. We have been discussing the timing and conditions for returning to face to face bridge and an email has been sent to members. There is a copy of the message here and a form on the News Page for you to let the Committee know your views. We have decided to keep the website updated to try and counter some of the effects of social isolation. This will allow members to log in and obtain the contact information for others, us to send emails and in the coming days to add some items providing links to online bridge, other activities which can be undertaken remotely and sources of information. We have also set up a WhatsApp group to aid communication between members.

Let's keep in touch. Please let us know of any links you think fellow members would find useful or if you are in need of assistance.

We've put together some links to sources of advice and online activities. Suggestions for additional sources or topics always welcome:

The NHS has regularly updated general guidance on precautions to take and what to do if you are unwell. Bromley Council has advice for those self-isolating and those wishing to volunteer help.

The EBU has a useful link to sources of online bridge. If you want to play a virtual game with other club members why not register with BBO, swap user names and agree a time to play. We have already added the facility for you to share your BBO username with other members should you wish to do so. Log in to the members area and amend your account - there is now a field where you can add your user name. Look at the member list and the last column on the right contains BBO names. There is the latest version of some guidance on registering and setting up a game here. If you are looking for other members to join an online game and want an email circulated to other members please email Jan.

There is guidance on how to play in a virtual club here

There are a number of sites with free e-books.   There are some free bridge related e-books here  not all of them ACOL but worth a look.

About our club

When the World returns to normal do you want to play bridge in Bromley in a friendly relaxed atmosphere? Perhaps with a meal or drink before or after the game? We are a duplicate bridge club based in the Parklangley Club in Wickham Way, Beckenham - located in Bromley, Kent, between West Wickham and Beckenham and on the hail and ride section of the 352 bus route. When we resume operations after the period of social distancing we will play on a Tuesday afternoon and evening using Bridgemates and pre-dealt hands. Visitors are always welcome but members will take priority if there is insufficient room.  For more details and contact information click here.

About our club

We held a successful AGM by zoom where it was established that the majority of members supported the continuing closure of the club until it was not only legal but that play could resume safely without excessive precautions. The draft minutes can be viewed here

4 1/2 tables participated in a free trial of this new software which allows you to play a game of duplicate and also see and hear the others at your table.

Thank you to the volunteers. Apologies for some of the delays. Your views on this system welcomed. If we do sign up  we recognise that some members will not have the appropriate technology and will make sure we continue informal BBO games.

Now re-confirmed as 1-3 October 2021. For updated details please click here

Click on useful links in the menu or in the title above.

Updated guidance on using BBO in order to play remotely with other club members is available click here There is additional information on Slams website.

There is now information on virtual bridge clubs who would welcome Briter members click here

The results for the Realbridge  trial game are illustrative only as not everyone played the same number of boards and we lost one player before the end but they do show it is possible to save and upload the results!
