Face to face play resumed 20th July. Please let us know if you plan to come along.

There is guidance on registering with BBO and on playing at virtual clubs.

Welcome to Briter Bridge 2

The club opened again for face to face bridge on Tuesday 20th July.   Members should have already received an email detailing the requirements for a safe return, which include not attending if you have any covid symptoms or have been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive or is awaiting the results of a test.  Face coverings are  required between the main entrance and the bridge room and optional whilst playing . Please bring your own refreshments and the exact table money (£2 for members and £4 for visitors). We will need to keep records for track and trace purposes. There is a copy of the message here

Our Chairman, Tim, sends this report "Briter Bridge is back face to face!  We had three tables in the afternoon and played a 25 board Howell.  We had two tables in the evening and played a 20 board team’s match.  Great fun was had by all. The Park Langley Club was very welcoming and the bar and food provision were back to normal.  The Club asked us to wear face masks when walking around and we generally all conducted ourselves in a covid secure manner.  Hope to see more of you soon."

Until further notice it would help with planning if you tell us by midday Monday that you wish to play on Tuesday afternoon and/or evening. If you click here it will take you to forms for the afternoon and evening sessions.

About our club

Do you want to play bridge in Bromley in a friendly relaxed atmosphere? Perhaps with a meal or drink before or after the game? (Currently advised to book if you want a meal). We are a duplicate bridge club based in the Parklangley Club in Wickham Way, Beckenham - located in Bromley, Kent, between West Wickham and Beckenham and on the hail and ride section of the 352 bus route. We play on a Tuesday afternoon and evening using Bridgemates and pre-dealt hands. Visitors are always welcome but members will take priority if there is insufficient room.  For more details and contact information click here.

About our club

We've put together some links to sources of advice and online activities. Suggestions for additional sources or topics always welcome:

The NHS has regularly updated general guidance on precautions to take and what to do if you are unwell. Bromley Council has advice for those self-isolating and those wishing to volunteer help.

The EBU has a useful link to sources of online bridge. If you want to play a virtual game with other club members why not register with BBO, swap user names and agree a time to play. We have already added the facility for you to share your BBO username with other members should you wish to do so. Log in to the members area and amend your account - there is now a field where you can add your user name. Look at the member list and the last column on the right contains BBO names. There is the latest version of some guidance on registering and setting up a game here. If you are looking for other members to join an online game and want an email circulated to other members please email Jan.

There is guidance on how to play in a virtual club here

There are a number of sites with free e-books.   There are some free bridge related e-books here  not all of them ACOL but worth a look.

There is now information on virtual bridge clubs who would welcome Briter members click here

The results for the Realbridge  trial game are illustrative only as not everyone played the same number of boards and we lost one player before the end but they do show it is possible to save and upload the results!
