Return to live bridge.

We are delighted to announce that on Thursday 28th we returned to Stradbrook for live bridge. All guidelines/protocols were followed. It was a great success with 5 tables of 4 people. It was wonderful to see old and new friends enjoying themselves. It was a little different to the bridge pre covid as there was a lot of laughter and chat which was great to hear. Another trial night next Thursday 4th November increasing to 10 tables so get ready to send in your text.

BCBC Annual Golf Outing.

We had a great day on Saturday for the golf outing at Foxrock golf club. 27 took part in the afternoon and the weather was very kind to us apart from one short shower. The course was in fantastic condition with very fast greens catching many players out. In the evening 36 members met for dinner in the clubhouse. Everyone was delighted to see one another after so long. We had a lovely meal and a memorable night.  Here is a list of the prize winners.

Lady Milne Trials – Results

The weekend of 17/18 September saw four teams do battle for the honour of representing Ireland in the Lady Milne Trophy (women’s home international championship), to be held in Wales on 22-24 April next. Incredibly, it was also the first live bridge event hosted by the CBAI since March 2020!

The playing conditions were amended considerably to ensure the necessary precautions against COVID-19.

Everything would appear to have gone smoothly, with the only medical issue being one of the participants being stung whilst outside on a break.

Congratulations to the winning Phelan team, Lucy Phelan, Dolores Gilliland, Valarie Burke-Moran, Ann O’Connell, Sandra Newell, and Carol-Ann Cummins. We are sure you’ll join us in wishing them good luck for the Lady Milne event.

Going into the last round 8 points behind and the team had a fabulous last round to succeed overall.

Following feedback from regions and members we have decided NOT to proceed with this competition as a multi-venue event as originally planned. We are seeking an alternative date in the calendar, and will advise the revised details as soon as possible.
