| Oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree |
Bridge club Christmas tree in St Paul's church
For St Paul's Christmas tree festival the club has contributed the brilliant Christmas tree shown. Thanks pretty much exclusively to Caroline Bell, Karen Israel and David Israel.
This raises the profile of bridge in Bedford and is a great part of the Christmas scene. You can see it 'live' in St Pauls until Sunday 7th - after that it will be at St Marks

Bedford Bridge Club runners up in county teams of eight
Bedford Bridge Club's team of eight was runner up to the powerful Milton Keynes A in the county teams of eight competition on 26th November, beating four other teams from Leighton Buzzard and Milton Keynes. Congratulations to our pairs of:
Louise Smith & Richard Lindley
David Israel & Bob Jewell
Pippa Green & Karen Israel
Peter Coles & Ravi Arulnandhy
This is even more impressive given that only one of these pairs was a regular partnership

Congratulations to JACQUI STACEY AND BOB JEWELL who won the handicapped pairs on 1st December with an adjusted score of 66.04% and so won the Ken White trophy.
They also won the normal pairs with 62.04%, so didn't actually need the handicap!

| System announcement and system cards |
Please can all pairs make a brief statement of their system when they sit at a new table. Examples are: Acol, weak no trump, weak 2s in the majors or three weak 2s; Benji (or reverse Benji), weak no trump.weak 2s in the majors or three weak 2s; Acol, weak no trump, multi-two diamond. Any fundamental change from basic Acol (for example 5 card majors) should be drawn attention to.
Please can established pairs have one system card at the table. The link to the EBU system cards is here https://www.ebu.co.uk/laws-and-ethics/system-cards
Hopefully if we can follow this guidance the game will be clearer and fairer to all players
