Minutes
The regular Board of Governor’s meeting of the Unit 101 ACBL bridge club was called to order by President Connie White on July 15, 2024 at 4:30 p.m. at the bridge center. In attendance were President Connie White, vice president Jeanne Lins, secretary Joan Hunter, and treasurer Al Hunter and past president Rod Smith. Board members: (1 year term, Dec. 2023 to Dec. 2024): Bill Archambo (absent), Janet Bell, Sylvia Neff, Kathy Davis (absent), and Dan Goodwin (absent). (2 year term, Dec. 2023 to Dec. 2025): Glenda Barnard, Larry Halverson, Cal Hawkins and Marilyn Sexton. Also attending were members Ann Hawkins, Mary Giles, Steve Olson and club manager, David Giles.
On a motion made by Marilyn Sexton and seconded by Sylvia Neff, the minutes were read and approved.
On a motion made by Jeanne Lins, seconded by Larry Halverson, the treasurer’s report was read and approved.
David Giles reported on the tournament results. The tournament went well and the club made some gains. He passed out a proposal for next year if the club wants to do it again. Following much discussion of fees, providing lunches, and assigning responsibilities, on a motion made by Larry Halverson, seconded by Marilyn Sexton the board voted to host another tournament next spring. David will contact the ACBL about dates.
Education report: Possible classes may be on 2/1, Progressive Bidding, and Defense if there is enough interest. Other topics suggested were Conventions or another Chalk Talk.
The annual Christmas party was set for Sunday, December 8. Joan Hunter and Jeanne Lins will be in charge of the refreshments.
Larry Halverson will chair the committee to select new board members.
On a motion made by Joan Hunter, seconded by Sylvia Neff the board voted to give David a $350 bonus for all the work he did on the tournament.
On a motion made by Sylvia Neff, seconded by Cal Hawkins, the meeting was adjourned.
Next meeting: Sunday, December 8.
