The Winter Teams competition for 2026-27
This is the 5th year of the event so it has been quite a challenge trying to find team pairings with are different from previous years. No doubt some of you will be happier than others! We have 6 teams this time. Some of the teams have 5 players, so that will give some flexibility with agreeing a convenient match date for 8 individuals – but every team member should play at least 2 matches.
The teams are:
Wildcards - Rex & Michael A with Jo & Vincent
Contract Killers - John & Iain with Steve & David M
Dozy Doublers - Andy & Tony with Tony, Pam, Huw
Double Trouble - Richard W with Richard B, Michael J, Richard F, Gill
Rough Diamonds - Peter with Paddy, Felicity, Ann, Ash
Top Trumps - Lee B & Jon D with April & Mick
The high-lighted name is the team captain
If you want to play matches earlier that’s fine but we aim to finish by March. You may need to be flexible to avoid holidays etc. All results will be posted on the club website.
Competition Rules
The competition would be run over several months on RealBridge. Each team to play each month at a time to be arranged to suit both teams.
Each team will have a team captain who manages arrangements for their team members and co-ordinates with the other team captain of a match. They will also liaise with the match organiser/director. Teams may have more than 4 players but every individual should play in at least 2 matches.
Matches should avoid a clash with Abergavenny, Brecon and Crucywel events. When the match date has been agreed we shall set up the session and send the RealBridge links to the captains. Where required a director will be appointed for each match.
Matches will be played over 20 boards, swapping at the half point, and scoring to be converted to Victory Points. No master-points to be awarded.
There will be a prize for the overall winning team!
