Simultaneous Pairs
We play simultaneous Pairs (Sim Pairs) a few times a year. Sometimes we play this online with RealBridge and sometimes at the club. Normally Sim Pairs is a charity event, supporting things like Children in Need, and there is a small addition to the table money to cover this donation.
What is Sim Pairs?
Sim Pairs is a type of duplicate pairs competition where a large number of clubs play the same hands at the same time, often on the same day. Your results are thus compared with those from hundreds of other players from different clubs. It's also a chance to boost your WBU ranking with some extra master points and even a green point. Most Sim Pairs is run by an organisation called Ecats. See their website for further information.
Where can I find the results?
The results at the club will be published on our website, usually after a slight delay that evening. There will be a link in the Calendar Results page for this event (use the small Ecats Results button on the top line) direct to the Ecats website where you can see the full results from all the clubs as they come in. You can, of course, go direct to the Ecats website too. Whilst you are there, you can access an expert commentary on the hands to see where you went wrong!
Why does my percentage differ?
At the club your score is compared with that of our club players on, perhaps, 5 or 6 tables. When it’s compared across hundreds of other tables it can be vastly different. You might find your overall score goes up or down 5% or even more.
