BRIDGE CLUB LIVE

https://www.bridgeclublive.com/

All  face to face bridge (unless you can make up a four in your household!) is on hold at the moment, but you can still play online on Bridge Club Live.   If you register as an Abbeygate member (see below how to do this) you can see which other Abbeygate members are in the club, in which room, and whether playing or lurking, by clicking on Local Club at the top of the screen.

  • The Main DIDO (DropinDropout) Tournament in the DailyMPs Room provides a fully approved automated movement to any partnership with a minimum commitment to 4 boards at each sitting and a minimum of 16 boards during each 1 day Session to be listed on the Leader Board. All boards played are fully archived, and can be replayed at any time and compared with all others who have played the same board.
  • As a CLUB FACILITY, a dedicated Ladder for each registered club lists the results for all those club members as a subset of the overall DIDO Tournament result. Each Club will have its own single Web page with information, specific to that club and a list of players' ALIAS's who have registered online.
  • All the other regular tournament rooms including a social room are also available and additional features and improvements geared towards each club will be rolled out according to demand and feasability

CLUB MEMBERS

  1. To benefit from the CLUB facilities, each club member must be a full member of BCL. There are many incentives to join right now.
  2. Once you have joined BCL, go to the "CLUBS" page which is visible from the home page of BCL under "Members->Clubs".   There you will see all the clubs that are registered.
  3. Click on Abbeygate Bridge Club UK to register as an Abbeygate member and see the other registered abbeygate members listed by alias.
  4. Play at any time of day or night in the DIDO room, and see your results specific to your partnership and other club members on the Abbeygate page.
TUESDAY BRIDGE AT ABBEYGATE

Tuesday night Bridge at Abbeygate is suitable for less experienced bridge players who are looking to play duplicate bridge in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a view to improving their bridge!!!

WEDNESDAY LEARN AND PLAY

The club's 'Learn & Play' session on Wednesday evenings starts at 7.00 pm prompt until about 10.00 pm, and is run by Celia Jeal (EBU Qualified Bridge Teacher) and John Bloomfield.

It is aimed at players who have completed a Beginning Bridge course, but is also suitable for people who have been playing bridge socially for some years and feel in need of a refresher course.

It usually consists of supervised play, duplicate style.   There are occasional tutorial sessions with about half an hour’s tuition on a particular topic, followed by a gentle, friendly duplicate bridge session, in which at least some of the hands are based on the topic covered.

The bidding system used is Standard English Acol. Celia and John are available throughout the duplicate to help with questions on bidding and play.  You can come with or without a partner, and can come as a guest up to three times to see if you like it before committing yourself to joining. Table Money is £1.50 (£2.50 for guests).

For more information on the Learn and Play Club, and also on courses for beginners, please contact Celia or John (see details below).

If you have any questions, please contact: Celia 01284 728350 and celiajeal4@gmail.com   John 01284 755504 and johnbloomfield@live.com
