Social

The Club is developing a number of ad-hoc initiatives to engage with and offer members more. Accordingly we will continue to run occasional evenings out and, for example, a bridge lunch is being planned.

We will also host a fantasy football league for those members who are interested, please contact the organiser John Tumbridge if you wish to be included.

Other suggestions or ideas are most welcome.

That's funny!

The club is arranging a visit to the Comedy Store at the Holiday Inn Express in Brentwood on the evening of Thursday 29th November, please let Tony know if you would like to come chuckle with us.

We’ll be having a two course meal followed by the show featuring 3 comedians, the cost is £15 for just the show or £30 to include the meal. As always we are an inclusive club, friends, partners and family are all very welcome..... even if the weirdos don't play bridge!

Update: after some effort booking as a group directly with the hotel resulted in the booking fee being waived. We are currently a group of 24 so if you wish to join us please contact Tony to avoid the fee and to be seated with us.

Worthing Autumn Update - Balance Due

Our next weekend trip is proving to be very popular indeed with a very high return rate but despite what you may have heard to the contrary we do still have plenty of room left!

Regrettably though single rooms are now only available with a £50 supplement, however twin and double rooms are still available as advertised, details here.

Those lucky folk joining us are reminded that the balance is due by 7th August, bank transfer prefered (details on form) but cash or a cheque may be given to Tony, Coral or Sue.

It's a Fantasy World Cup!

As the whole nation, most of the nation, okay a few of the blokes in the nation go fooball crazy with World Cup fever why don't you have some fun with us?

England lifting the World Cup is one fantasy that may be rather unlikely* (impossible), but you winning the Hutton Fantasy World Cup league is within your grasp!

Have something to look forward to even after England's departure in disapointment!

Pick your team now and follow this link to join II'sgoingtogetmessi, Sue's Pooches and Beckham's Metatarsal in the HuttonBridgeFC league Dream Team World
Cup game. A £2.50 donation is all that's required to provide a little fun, a charity gift and a chance to win millions* (about £10).

Much more importantly some fun's to be had and there's bragging rights at stake! The PIN to join our league is: WCE4EJM7

It's official - we're at it again!

The club is very pleased to confirm we're off to the sun, sea, sand and....... bridge again!

We're going back to the splendid Ardington Hotel at the end of September (28th Sept - 1st Oct) for another weekned of fun and friendly bridge, be sure to book early especially if you wish to secure either a single or particular room. Details can be found here.

Hugely successfull club Holiday!

The club's first ever holiday took place from the 20th - 23rd October 2017 in Worthing. The trip was a huge success and those of you expecting (fearing!) a mention should watch this space for a full report in due course, however all the bridge results are on our results calendar.

It seems likely we will run a trip to the same venue next year, despite the spectre of a long haired man running barefoot through the coridoors we already have a list of those interested!

Hutton get social again

Ten members and a couple of guests can be seen enjoying a splendid (if rather slow!) Indian meal together on 7th October in Brentwood during which a thoroughly good time was had by all!

But what did we learn?

Well, some of us drink a lot more when left without food for longer than is really reasonable and quorn is a real thing you can actually eat - who knew?!?

The editor notes that perhaps eating such oddities may make him a better bridge player..... or slimmer.....

Please be aware that if you belong to this bridge club then you, your partner or your friends are most welcome to join us during these pleasurable informal evenings.

Worthing Weekend Break!

The club is very pleased to announce it will be holding its first ever club holiday at The Ardington Hotel Worthing from the 20th - 23rd October 2017!

There will be up to 5 prize bridge sessions, a fun quiz and time to explore the nearby 100 y/o cinema, pier, seafront or shopping. The trip is open to all so why not join us?

Full details here.

The Italian Job!

Several members ventured to the splendid Piero's Restaurant in Ingatestone for an Italian meal on the evening of Saturday 27th May to enjoy some time with Eric prior to his move away from the area.

Eric can be seen in the photo bottom left prior to his 'happier' state, enough good food and wine can send us all to our 'happier' state and we sincererly hope this is a conditition Eric finds himself in after his move on a frequent basis.

Bon Amis prevailed as bridge foes became bridge friends and a thoroughly enjoyable evening was had by all. Perhaps the disco afterwards was a miss-step, the editor notes his disco days are behind him. Note to Nick: your choice of after meal drinks venue was correct!

Another outting will be arranged for the end of the summer!

It's not Xmas Social!
It's not Xmas Social!

Eleven members and four guests braved a cold evening in early December to meet for a superb meal at Rajmoni Indian Restaurant in Warley Hill - those with good eyesight may recognise some of the group!

There was not much talk of current bridge but more tales of yesteryear - odd how the older we get the better we were! It was a delight to have the time to chat socially with friendly adversaries and get to know each other better, in fact everyone had such a good time we're going to do it again! Watch this space for another social outing in Spring.
