What's Occurring

Individuals Competition / Xmas & New Year Party

Congratulations to the joint winners: Nishe Das and Gilly Clench

Thanks to the Social Committee of Veronica, Jane, Teresa and Bronwen for organising such an enjoyable event and thanks also to all those who helped to set it up and clear up afterwards and to those who provided such delicious food and excellent raffle prizes.

Monday Afternoon Bridge - New starting times

On Monday 12th January, the Monday Social Bridge session will start at 1pm, and finish at 3.30pm. This is an experiment requested by players due to driving in the dark and increasing traffic after 4 o’clock. The success of the change will be monitored in future weeks. Players are asked to arrive at least 10 minutes before this so play can start promptly at 1pm. If players are unable to arrive by 12:50 then please ring Ian Evans on 07506 605173.

Sunday 11th January: Hirst Kurbalija Swiss Teams 11am in the club

The Hirst Kurbalija Teams is an annual event in honour of Mike and Filip and this will be the fourth of the competition. Play starts at 11am and is expected to finish at about 6pm.

We will play 7x6 board matches and a light buffet lunch will be served after the first 3 matches.

The entry fee is £80 per team.

There will be cash prizes of £120 for the winning team, £70 for the best non-expert team and £50 for the team that ascends the highest number of places in the last 3 matches.

For more details and to book your place click HERE. Book early as places are limited.

24th & 25th January:  The WBU Lady Milne trial will be held F2F as a pairs event with a minimum of 4 tables over one weekend at the Club. The trial will be used as the main method to select the teams for the Lady Milne which will be played F2F over the weekend of 17-19th April 2026 in Belfast, Northern Ireland. For more details click HERE.

Tuesday 27th January: CBC Annual General Meeting at 6.30pm in the Main Hall prior to Bridge. Click HERE to see the official notice and nominations form for the committee.

A message from Martin Joseph: "CBC is  not some soulless corporation but rather a Members's Club owned by us all. We have a vested interest in seeing it succeed and flourish. Everyone of you has an individual ability and talent. Please consider using these  by standing for the Committee of your Club OR by offering to help in some way or other, no  matter how small."

Note the  deadline of the 15th January for receipt of Nominations and Notices of Motions.

21st & 28th January: The next Begin Bridge Course is to  take place on Wednesday the 28th January 1926 at 1.30pm. There will be a Free Taster Session the week before on the 21st  January starting at 2.00pm.

We attach the Flyer - click HERE. Please advise family, friends and work colleagues etc.

We also enclose a more general flyer in both English and Welsh about our Beginners Courses - click HEREPlease arrange to have these advertised in your Golf and other Sporting Clubs, your Gyms, local Libraries and Hubs and general stores etc. If you are not able to print them off, let Martin know and he will arrange for copies to be available for collection in the Club.

Please do not leave this to others. The only way for your club and bridge generally in Wales to survive is by attracting new blood. The courses run so far have been very successful and have produced a number of new and most welcome members. We need this to continue to help secure our future.

Saturday 28th January & 1st March: TD training run by Sarah Amos 10.30am to 4pm in the club. Covering all aspects of being a Club TD from movements and scoring to table rulings and dealing with judgement rulings. Click HERE to see the flyer for more info.
