We are delighted that many of you have signed up to play YC bridge online, and that the games are proving popular. They are a great opportunity for both regular members and newer "faces" to enjoy YC bridge, and for us all to continue supporting and developing the club through a challenging time. The lovely Stefan Skorchev and his team are generously setting up the BBO games for us, and we're very grateful to them for their ongoing help.
Those of you who played both Friday and Monday will have noticed we played two different formats. BBO offers only two different movement styles, and we are experimenting to see which would work best for the YC. We would certainly welcome your feedback. The options are:
Basic Mitchell with no arrow-switch, which gives a two-winner movement. You may play the same opponents twice, depending on number of tables.
"Danish", which is a Swiss movement, but without preventing you from playing the same opponents multiple times if you are on the same score.
The Chat functions on BBO can be a super way for players to enjoy the social side of bridge and YC community spirit. Please do consider that they are relatively public though, and we want to make sure everyone (players, directors, etc) can enjoy the game. If you have any questions or suggestions about the online games, then please do email them to me at the club. I would be very happy to hear from you.
If you are looking for a partner for a game, then you can use the Partnership Desk function on BBO. Once the tournament is live on BBO, you can view the Partnership Desk and either list yourself or invite someone already on the list. Last, but not least, you can now pay for online games through the YC website here. As the club has to pay a small fee for each online payment, a bank transfer to the club is ideal, but you may find the online payment system more convenient.
Either way, you can pay a lump sum to cover multiple games, and we will keep track. YC bank details are:
Account name: The Young Chelsea Bridge Club Ltd
Account number: 35584692
Sort code: 23-05-80
Hope you are staying well, and enjoy the bridge!
Best wishes, Rachel
