Instructions for the Club Teams of Four League.
Matches shall consist of 24 boards played as two stanzas of 12. Each will have two results, one with handicap and one without handicap.
Scoring is by IMPs converted to Victory Points according to the published scale.
£4 per player will be debited from their bridge a/c (£2 if only playing for half the match).
Handicaps for each player have been calculated such that they favour the less experienced. The handicap of each pair playing is the mean of their individual handicaps. The team handicap is the sum of these two means. If more than 4 are playing in a team for a given match, partnerships may only be changed at the start of a stanza. If a new player plays for the second half, then his/her handicap is halved as is also the handicap of the player(s) who stopped after the first half.
Teams may consist of 4, 5, 6 or 7 players. A player may not play for more than one team. Teams having fewer than 6 members may add players during the course of the season. If a member is added to a team who is not on the published handicap list the competitions secretary must be informed before play so that a handicap can be allocated. All players must be paid up members of the club.
Master Points will be awarded for the scratch results.
Any conventions can be used but do explain fully and politely to anyone less experienced.
Captains should confer before agreeing a date and time for each match.
The captain of the winning team, having converted IMPs to VPs, should complete the results form making sure that the names of all participating players are included. Then email the result to pierspercival@yahoo.com
The named captain of both the winning and losing teams should then upload scratch results to the EBU website: go to ‘My EBU’ using your member number and password. Click ‘utilities’ then ‘EBU league’: Click ‘York Bridge Club league 2022’;
Add or remove player’s names on your team; EBU numbers are needed when adding;
