The York Bridge Club – Virtual Club through BBO : Things to check/know
Before 7th August:
- You will need to have a BBO login name. If you haven’t used BBO before a starter guide can be emailed to you. Just email Sally for this. (sgregory@theyorkbridgeclub.com)
- We will need to know and load your BBO username prior to the commencement of the tournament. If you have been playing the online pairs leagues and/or the teams games, we will already have your username. If not, please email this as soon as possible to sgregory@theyorkbridgeclub.com.
Please ensure your username is spelt correctly as failure to do so will mean you won’t be able to access the tournament. Note: usernames are NOT case sensitive.
- You will need to purchase BBO$ from the BBO shop ahead of registering for the tournament if you have not already done so.
On the Day:
Register for the tournament:
The tournament will be available to register for an hour before the start time. Please do not leave it until the last minute to register as you may have problems that we will not be able to sort out in time if you do.
Once you have registered, you are free to leave BBO as long as you return online at least 5 minutes prior to the start of the event.
At first screen:
Click: CompetitiveThen : all tournaments
Then use the search in the top right to look for YBC or York (the host will be vEBU209364)
One of your pairs needs to do the registration:
Click on the event then click register – you will be given a space to add your partner’s BBO name.
You will be asked about the fee at this point and have the option of paying individually or paying for both (BBO$3 each).
Once this is done, click register. Your partner will need to be online at the same time as you do this to get an invite which they need to accept.
Once registered, you are free to leave as long as you are back in the competitive area 5 minutes ahead of the tournament starting. If you are in the wrong part of the system or if you are late arriving, the tournament will start without you and it will not be possible to join it.
If you have any problems with the registration, please contact James Carpenter in the first instance using chat and his BBO username (jmurrayc).
Problems when playing:
If you get logged out, when you return you should be taken back to your seat although this may be at the start of the next board or round.
Any problems with this or with bridge questions and issues on the day as you are playing – press the blue box with three white lines where there is an option to call the TD.
Things to note:
-
- You must stay for the entire event and can’t leave part way through (to do this causes significant issues for the TDs)
- Undos are allowed for mis-clicks but must not be used if you simply made a mistake or change your mind.
- Please advise your opponents of your basic system at the start of each round.
- As a pre-requisite for this event, we will need to pre-load your BBO usernames into the virtual York Bridge Club on BBO and in due course, link these names to your EBU numbers and names. If you do not wish us to do this, please advise us as soon as possible. Not linking and uploading information will mean that you are not able to access the on-line virtual YBC club events. Other access to BBO would not be affected.
