Anglo-Roman League – Match 5 – Hitchin

WE WON AGAIN…

The last of the inter-club challenges. We were asked to field 5 teams for the last match in this tournament. It was a tough challenge and a very close game but we managed to stay ahead and win. Well done to all the teams taking part, the final league table should be out shortly – hopefully we have avoided the wooden spoon!

A huge thanks to Stuart Kay who spent many hours agreeing and sorting the teams, fire-fighting issues on the night and playing as well.

Thank You Stuart, we all enjoyed it immensely.

Anglo-Roman League – Match 4 – St Albans

WE WON…

The latest round of the Anglo-Roman inter club challenge took place on 23rd of June. We fielded 10 teams – another massive effort well done all.  This was a return of the first interclub challenge we played so we wanted to repeat the success of the previous match.

Overall we had some good wins and managed to hold on to a victory for the club. Well done to everyone who took part.

Our final match on 30th June is against Hitchin who are fielding a reduced number of teams (currently 5). Good luck to those taking part in the final round.

If you would like to Kibbitz (watch) any of the matches being played, they are all played on Tuesdays starting from 7.30pm and available in real time on BBO. Just look for one of our players and join them at the table.

We are not currently expecting to play an inter-club challenge next month but are looking at an internal club team challenge. Please get in touch with Stuart if you would like to be involved.

Anglo-Roman League – Match 3

A massive effort was required to pull together the 11 teams of 4 that took part in the latest round of the Anglo-Roman interclub challenge. This week we were playing against the west country team from Bath (Aquae Sulis to those liking the roman tie up). It was a close match but the final score shows York in second place.

A massive thank you to Stuart who had the unenviable task of organising the players and teams and keeping everything running smoothly on the night.

Next up St Albans, a match we won last time by a very narrow margin – fingers crossed for this one.

Anglo-Roman League – Match 2

We had a difficult time against strong opposition from Louth. Both sides fielded 5 very strong teams and although it was hard fought, York unfortunately came out the losers.

Next week will be manic, we are expecting to field 12 teams of 4 against Bath… Come on York!

Anglo-Roman League  Match 1

The results of the first of 5 inter-club team competition did not go so well for York. We put fielded 8 teams against Chester. Our first two teams won (Fantastic, Well Done), unfortunately our other teams did not (better luck next time). Our next match is against Louth who are fielding 5 very strong teams and we will be playing our best players to try and beat them.
