"For the Teams Handicap Competition, the following formula is used to calculate a handicap for each team;
Average NGS of field - average team NGS x no. boards x 0.3086
Where the average NGS of the field is the average NGS of all the players at a given match, and the average team NSG is the average of the 4 players in the team.
Teams matches are scored in IMPs and each team's handicap is calculated as an IMP adjustment that is either added or subtracted from that team's final result.
Example:
At a match where the average NGS of all participating players is 51.8, Team A's average NGS is 54.3, and 24 boards are played, Team A's handicap is calculated as:
(51.8 - 54.3) x 24 x 0.3086 = -18.51
Team A would have 18.51 IMPs deducted from their final score.
The handicap is calculated on the Monday of the week the match is due to be played, using current NGS grades displayed on the EBU website. Players will need to have their NGS grade publicly visible to receive a handicap."
