Pianola

Pianola is a web based application. This means that it accessed over the internet. As there is some personal information held by it, there needs to be some security and so to use it you need a log-on id and a password.

As far as our club is concerned, Pianola has three main functions:

·To Provide A Results Service

When a session is played at the club, Pianola is used to send off information to the English Bridge Union (EBU). Within a day or so of doing this, members can see what impact the session has had on their EBU ranking.

For each session Pianola provides comprehensive details of who played, what happened on each hand together with an analysis of what the theoretical best contracts were.

·Provide Members With Statistics About Their Game

When a member logs on, as well as seeing the results as mentioned above, he/she can see their own results history with statistics on how well they do with each partner, and whether the partnership does better if that member is on lead or not, or whether they are declarer or not. This may help members to decide on which parts of their game, if any, that they need to improve

·Provide A Basic Administration Service For The Club

Pianola is used to administer membership data, send information to the EBU and to provide some basic statistics on attendance and trends at the club

If a new member provides an email address on their application form, then they will be sent the information to enable them to logon.
